The FBI lawyer who is under criminal investigation for allegedly falsifying a document related to the surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser expressed negative opinions of President Trump in messages to colleagues.
Kevin Clinesmith, who once was part of special counsel Robert Mueller's team, has been identified as the attorney who could face a criminal charge as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's expansive criminal investigation into the origins of the Russia inquiry, according to the New York Times.
As part of the Justice Department watchdog's now-completed investigation into alleged surveillance abuses, Clinesmith was found to have altered an email that was used by officials as they prepared an application renewal to present before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to obtain a warrant to electronically surveil Carter Page, a onetime foreign policy adviser for the Trump campaign.
Clinesmith was an attorney with the FBI’s National Security and Cyber Law Branch and worked under FBI General Counsel James Baker and Deputy General Counsel Trisha Anderson. He had worked on the Clinton email investigation as well as the Trump-Russia probe and resigned two months ago after being interviewed by DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's team, who sent a referral to Durham, the prosecutor from Connecticut tasked with reviewing the Russia case by Attorney General William Barr.
Horowitz's investigators found Clinesmith falsely asserted he had documentation to back up a claim while in talks with the Justice Department about the factual basis for a FISA warrant application renewal. He then took an email from an official from another agency that contained multiple factual assertions, added material of his own, and gave it to a fellow FBI official who was preparing an affidavit for the Page case.

In fact Clinesmith is one of the Mueller investigation lawyers and also reported to Peter Strzok.
Folks should not react too much to the Leftist spin and await the Horowitz and more powerful Durham report to follow.
Certainly not the last one that was a dud with zero criminal referrals.
Fear that Horowitz and Durham will be a dud. Have little faith in the Federal Government capable of doing anything to do with justice.

If there was no indictments, there would be nothing to report. So, I do expect there will be quite a kickoff. Just don’t know when.

Oh, he’ll get sentenced to Club Fed. No federal prosecutor will try to flip him because they don’t want the Deep State exposed. He’ll go to Club Fed for a minimum sentence and the next Rat president will pardon him.

Did you see the Five yesterday? The dark haired reporterette who I believe use to be a Federal Prosicuter said that this guy in noway acted alone. FISA warrents are written by teams not individuals.

Just ain’t buying that this single person is the sole perp for the FISA abuse. You don’t just go after a POTUS willy nilly without a plan and hierarchy (screams RICO).
