It's easy to like Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. Her calm delivery and non-elitist persona is a sharp contrast to her fellow 2020 candidates, especially when on the debate stage. While others like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Beto O'Rourke loudly compete for who can be the most extreme, she presents herself as a moderate alternative.
Gabbard is less well-known than other, decidedly controversial Democrats. Throughout the campaign, her abysmal poll numbers have hovered around the 2% mark. But while she is not a legitimate election threat, she has gained the admiration of a portion of voters on the right. Her recent tussle with Hillary Clinton, where she defended herself against the claim of being a "Russian asset," only increased Gabbard's popularity. Republicans, eternally frustrated with Hillary, are eager to defend her. Many Democrats, aware that Clinton's comments in no way help their 2020 chances, have done the same.
As personalities go, Gabbard appeals to a vast majority. But in terms of policy, she is as radical as the rest of the Democratic presidential hopefuls.
While she does support Second Amendment rights, Gabbard is a vocal proponent of banning assault-style weapons. As a co-sponsor of H.R. 5087, introduced in the House last year, she is publicly acknowledging her belief that removing certain weapons would be a fruitful and productive step in the fight against gun violence.

Tulsi is probably the only Dem candidate who I might enjoy having a beer with. This doesn’t mean I’d vote for her in preference to Trump.

Candidly, if the Dem field was more aligned with Gabbard's views we'd be better off as a country. However, I liken her to Alan Dershowitz, who remains a rabid pro-abortion and anti-2nd Amendment leftist despite defending Trump on other fronts. Thus I'll take their random acts of reason but Alan and Tulsi won't be getting invitations to my barbecue.

A rat is a rat is a rat, and so is Gabbard. But her persona is much more appealing as she does not come off as a rabid dog.
Favorable comments about her are not as irritating as those posted here on FR about AOC’s nice rack or posting the dance video. To me that’s cheer leading for a little monster. The same people might as well post Hanoi Jane’s work out videos too, after all she’s hot.
Look just because we think one of the other team’s cheerleaders is hot doesn’t mean we are less committed to kick her team’s ass. . .relax! We are just using Tulsi to thwart the Dems in the same way Dems use Mittens or Susan Collins. They always LOVE the biggest Rhino of the moment. So...it’s go Tulsi. . yea, right.
I don’t trust Gabbard one iota. This is the same one who said she steadfastly rejected the very idea of impeachment until she quietly decided she was all for it. She’ll talk the moderate language until she pulls out the long knives.
Let’s never forget she’s a hardcore leftist who supports abortion at any stage, gun confiscation, “slavery reparations,” reductions in freedom in the name of “global warming,” and confiscatory taxation. Beneath that eye-candy facade is an ideological clone of Bernie Sanders.

She is and always has been the dem candidate. Why do you think that virtually every other candidate has taken hard left positions? i think ita to make her stand out and appeal to dem voters who are not yard left, to moderates and to never trumpers and dumb conservatives.
I agree - we sometimes enjoy the disruption Tulsi is causing among certain Dems, but we still recognize her for what she really is.

I don’t believe Americans are ready (yet) to vote for a cow worshiper. Not a poofter (yet). But I think those dark days are ahead of us.
