LONDON - Boris Johnson has agreed the terms of a Brexit deal, paving the way for a historic vote in the UK parliament which could finally see the UK leave the European Union.
Negotiators in the Belgian capital worked intensively on Tuesday and Wednesday to agree a revised version of the withdrawal agreement, which is set to be put before the UK Parliament on Saturday.

And there in lies the rub. May had agreements with the EU too and Parliament never approved them. Johnson has to get his deal passed as leader of a minority party. It isn't going to be easy.
The US doesn’t submit to the the UN.
But the UK submits to the EU.
Or all those laws coming outta Brussels that the UK’s citizens are required to abide by under threat of criminal and/or civil penalty just gentle suggestions?
BTW, last I knew the UK still lacked a formal, written constitution protecting citizens from their government.
If you guys manage to kick the EU to the curb, I’d get right on correcting that. Feel free to crib ours. Especially the first ten amendments. :-)

The majority orf Parliament hates Boris Johnson b ecause he is a populist. The People of the UK, barring the liberal fascists, generally love Boris, which is why he is PM.

The European Parliament - in fact, no EU body - has never passed any law to make anything a crime in the United Kingdom.
The EU claims that they do have this power (Case C-176/03 Commission v Council) but has never used it, and if it did, let's just say that the UK would not be the only country to challenge that.
The EU does have the power to set civil regulations in certain cases, but in the UK those powers are powers specifically granted to it in British legislation.
It has been expressly held (in R (HS2 Action Alliance Limited) v Secretary of State for Transport) that rights that exist under the British Constitution cannot be ceded to the European Union, and absolutely explicitly that Parliamentary Sovereignty (a right explicitly granted under The Bill of Rights 1689) cannot be overruled.

That isn't really true. It doesn't exist in only one document and there are elements of the Constitution that can be said to be unwritten as there's no specific document that can be pointed to, except legal judgements, but the UK does have a written constitution. Elements of it are contained in a number of documents, most notably Magna Carta (1215), the Charter of the Forest (1217), the Bill of Rights (1689), the Act of Settlement (1700), the Act of Union (1707), the Great Reform Act (1832), the Second Reform Act (1867), the Trade Union Act (1871), The Representation of the People Act (1884), the Parliament Act (1911), the Representation of the People Act (1918), Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act (1928) [I've just focused on the really important cases here - and I may have missed a couple] and in a number of precedential court cases - which I won't even try to list. But - like I said, I have studied this
Sometimes I think the problem isn't that Britain doesn't have a written constitution - but that there's way too much writing involved :)

We've already got a Bill of Rights (that's one of the more straightforward of all the documents listed above), I'm fairly happy with - there are some elements of the US one I'd like in an ideal world, but unfortunately, I think any attempt in the near future to come up with a new document of that type would be more concerned with transgenderism than anything else.
Maybe not in twenty years time - the UK is not going to change overnight - socialism is still going to have far more influence than I personally want for at least the near future. But I would rather that comes from the British Labour Party, than anybody else.
Strange, this is what I proposed that the UK should do several months ago! Seems to be the easiest way to resolve the issues ...

Which is no different than what Mrs. May said about her agreement and that abomination wasn't a break at all, but would have chained the UK to the EU without a voice in the European Parliament. I hope Boris got a very good deal, but I'm with Mewzilla in wanting to see the fine print. I'll be listening to Nigel Farage's LBC show today among other things.

Long-term I think Northern Ireland breaks away completely and Ireland reunites as a Republic.
Now that the Republic of Ireland is an EU-lackey abortion-loving secular welfare state, they have no reasons left to object.
There were many comments making a big deal about the Queen’s speech in the House of Lords supporting Brexit but every word was written by her PM as is the custom.
I expect a little burnoff in some ADRs ("buy on mystery, sell on history") but the US stock market is going to go wild today, IMHO.
According the article, Corbyn and Labour are determined to stop Brexit. The article states that Johnson doesn’t have the votes to pass it. Britain’s convoluted structure and multiple political parties makes this very difficult. I’ll believe it when I see it.
And even then, I wouldn’t put it passed the Left in that country to someday attempt to rejoin the EU.
Father, please help Britain leave the evil EU. The time is now for Britain and USA to awaken from our illusions.
If they don’t agree, the UK goes to hard-Brexit and they have to call new elections. Johnson will tell the courts to screw off if they try to stop the UK from leaving without a deal. This is the best deal they are going to get. The Good Friday agreement ties their hands so Northern Ireland has to stay in the EU as long has Ireland does.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Which coincidentally, happens to be the sentiment of all my British colleagues.
Was listening to Nigel Farrage’s radio show via youtube this AM. He was not happy. Said that this deal is barely better than Teresa May’s disasters and still does not recover British sovereignty by basically forcing the UK to follow EU tax and migration laws (and does not get back the exclusive UK fishing rights to its territorial waters).
It may be the best Boris can do, however. Unfortunately it means that the unresolved issues from this mess will continue to plague the UK down the road ....
