A 12-year-old Kansas girl was arrested as in, hauled out of school in handcuffs, charged with a crime, and was handed a court date for making a finger gun and pointing it at fellow students.
According to the Kansas City Star, police in Overland Park hauled her out of school in handcuffs, arrested her and charged the child with a felony for threatening after the middle-schooler pointed the finger gun at other students before pointing it at herself.
Johnson County District Court documents obtained by the Kansas City Star claim the child unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities.
According to the news outlet, the whole thing started when a fellow student asked the girl if she could kill five people in the class, who would they be? The girl then allegedly pointed her fingers in the shape of a gun at several other students in the class. The teacher sent her to the principals office, where the school resource officer recommended she be arrested.
She was eventually turned over to her mother and hearing in the Juvenile Division of the District Court of Johnson County is scheduled for Tuesday. The childs family was reportedly told that if convicted of a felony, she could face up to a year in a juvenile detention center.
Good thing I’m not in her school. I used to make pretend grenades with my fist and rocket launchers with my arm!
“Nowadays theyd be arresting kids for playing Cowboys and Indians.”
We used to play cowboys and Indians but we never went around in class pointing out who we wanted to kill!
Back in the day anything this overdone would have resulted in every kid doing the finger gun the next day.
I feel bad for kids today. They don’t have nearly the amount of fun us kids of the 80’s had.
“...smear the queer....”
We called it “bombardment”
Too militaristic now.

She must be a white child. We know that inner city schools bend over backwards to keep students from being arrested for criminal activities. There’s no common sense left in today’s public schools. The liberal takeover of the school system removed all common sense and decency from the system.
Because they want to go home safely after shift < /s>... and criminals may make that problematic ...
“Her grandfather, Jon Cavanaugh, insisted the girl did not have access to real guns and was just mouthing off.
I think that this is something that probably could have been handled in the principals office and got completely out of hand, he told the Star. Im really worried about my granddaughters future.
Mindless, brainless...ridiculous. Yet, they still go around putting on airs of a severely snobbish “maturity”.
Nah - we'd just go punch 'em and let the chips fall where they may.
In the second grade, that was pretty much the only game we played at recess.
LOL! I remember that one. Remember 'Dodge Ball' and 'Kick Ball' as well...not like swinging a basketball at someones head...loads of fun..
Then you have the joy of knowing you helped make it all possible. Of course, your joy is a form of privilege that can be considered a microagression against.... blah blah blah.
There is something deep and serious in this story. That the normal is found as bad as the abnormal by those in charge and no distinctions are made on handling it should cause alarm.
Being angry at other kids and play shooting them is not abnormal. The way to handle it is to find out why and help the child to handle it better and the target kids to stop any bullying or teasing that may be happening.
What is abnormal is the child would also kill herself. This is abnormal and should set off alarms.
What is most abnormal is the way the authorities handled it. They ignored the deeper problem and made everything worse by arrest.
Home school with other home school families. It is healthier. Keep kids away from video games and most TV and movies. Take the kids to a traditional religious place of worship of our merciful God....
Nothing exposes a bad law like the enforcement of it.
My friends and I decades ago played World War II games , in which we had teams of Japs and Gerries. Holy moly, we would all be arrested nowadays for that.
Depending on the neighborhood, you would would not be arrested, you would be shot!
In my old neighborhood we played smear the queer hundreds of times. Lots of fun.
We usually played if we didn’t have enough kids to play football or we had an odd number of players.
Did they play it safe and use SWAT and armored vehicles?
