The wife of “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary has been charged in connection with the fatal boat crash last month on a Canadian lake, according to reports.

Linda O’Leary, 56, was charged with careless operation of a vessel stemming from the Aug. 24 collision on Lake Joseph in Ontario that killed two passengers of another vessel, CTV News reported on Tuesday.

She was allegedly piloting the boat when it slammed into a larger, 13-person vessel returning to a lake cottage just before midnight.

A New York man who was driving the other boat was also charged in connection with the incident. The driver, Richard Ruh, was charged with failing to exhibit a navigation light, the outlet reported.

Alcohol + Watercraft = Disaster. Every time. Celebrity or non-celebrity. When will people learn?

Boats and alcohol do not mix.

Careless operation means alcohol or does the article that i’m too lazy to open mention alcohol? :)

I do believe it could very well be that but there was no blood drawn so it would have to be witness testimony, no?

Not every time. That’s why people don’t learn.

I don’t get it. They charged both boat pilots? That sounds like “we don’t or can’t figure this out, so both of you go to court and let them deal with it”.

Pretty much.

In fact, when someone hit me the cop only charged me. I was shocked because it was clearly his fault. I went to court (I won) but the judge was surprised the cop didn’t charge both of us. So he said unfortunately it will be up to that guys insurance company to punish him.

Ok the guy without lights is clearly at fault. However, she may also be at fault depending on her rate of speed for the given area and/or if she was under the influence.

Exactly.

It's a tragic accident that could have been prevented, most simply, by the larger boat having their running lights turned on at night.

Baring any new evidence, neither will face conviction.

It’s always a mystery to me,

why multi-millionaires who travel at night on their luxury boats don’t have some kind of high-tech radar installed. Why, too expensive?

Where did that cheapness put you now? What if it was one of your own family killed?

17 knots at night in a restricted or limited channel would indeed be too fast in my Naval experience. Ships and boats don’t brake like cars... :)

I would like to sell my idea to the Shark Tank panel

of an Auto Pilot for boating.

Hire an Uber like sober boat driver surrogate.

Will somebody fund me?
