The assault rifle-toting madman who killed seven people and wounded more than 20 others in a roving Texas spree was identified Sunday as Seth Ator.
Ator, a 36-year-old resident of Odessa, Texas, was first named as the assailant by CBS News, citing law-enforcement sources.
When his gold Toyota pick-up truck was pulled over for a minor signaling infraction along a stretch of I-20 near Midland, Texas, on Saturday, Ator blasted approaching state troopers, seriously wounding one, authorities have said.
He then peeled off, firing indiscriminately with his AR-style rifle out of the truck as he floored it towards Odessa, authorities said.
Along the way, he killed a USPS worker and hijacked her mail truck, continuing the spree, officials said.
He made his last stand in the parking lot of an Odessa movie theater, where he was killed in a shootout with cops as horrified onlookers prayed for their lives.
Authorities are yet to identify a concrete motive behind the onslaught.

This whole “I don’t want to give him any notoriety” shtick is PURE COW DUNG!
The perp is DEAD and likely in Hell, he doesn’t give a whit about “notoriety”.
So THE QUESTION is this:
W H A T do the “authorities” K N O W, and W H Y ARE THEY HIDING IT FROM THE PUBLIC?
This smells like Las Vegas all over again.
The victims and their families, the people of Texas, and the people of America demand answers, not the “dog and pony ‘runaround’ show” the “authorities” gave us all today.
The so-called “press conference” was a disgrace. And everyone knows it.
Sort of a b.s. reason to pull him over.... just like the typical “left lane for passing only” west Texas I-10/20 often used pretext. It would be interesting to search through the forfeiture records to see how much is stolen from the highway users.
*This in no way even remotely is an excuse for what the murderer did.
I think there’s more to this.....MUCH more.
In the case of someone who is really wacked out it’s more of a stimulus than a motive. Motive implies some sort of cognitive reasoning.
CNN will tie it to him somehow.
Thank you for your kind support. You are a gentleman.
There are copycats desperate for attention who watch every incident that gives attention to suicide ... in this case suicide by cop.
They are copycats.
Whether the argument is worthy or not, it is about the copycats and not the dead guy.
Imagine if the cops had shot to kill earlier. That is the flip side. It would be interesting to know the thinking of the cops. Were they worried about how it would lookk?
“No twitter, no Facebook in search.”
The government has had plenty of time to scrub them.
You are on the right track. See comment #18.
Copycats is perhaps another term for contagion, and is fueled by the press. It seems to go in waves. Assassinations. Hijackings. Serial killers. Bombings. And now mass shootings.
Bet the farm
MyLife.com is a freakin' joke. A search on myself brings up multiple accounts and associations with people I've never heard of.
I wouldn't put too much value in anything mylife.com turns up.
Assigning a motive to a looney tune is itself rather neurotic.
He is from a Waco Suburb and then moved to the glamour of Odessa.
His motive is that hes a homicidal maniac.
But of course, the Rat media will somehow try to blame Trump, Trump supporters and the NRA.
I think you're right. I have seen a version of his page that said Democrat, and another version that said Republican. People seem to be messing with these pages.
And the Linkedin connection disappeared in just a few minutes from when I first looked.
They do, both sides as soon as the perp's name is released.
They were looking for him for some reason.
