A Republican strategist and former 2016 presidential campaign spokesman for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) laid out three things that the GOP must do to ensure President Donald Trump is reelected next year, including some surprises such as, he believes California a sign of things to come for the GOP without a plan to address it.
In an op-ed for The Hill, Ron Nehring writes that while California has become a running joke for his party, its really the canary in the coal mine, not an outlier.
That is, the state is a massive warning sign for the Republican Party.
While there is plenty of legitimate ammo for such jokes coming from the Golden State, usually from San Francisco, politically, the joke is on them, he says.
California is not some oddball left coast anachronism running counter to some broad national conservative trend. California is an indicator of what is coming. When Reagan was elected president in 1980, California was 21 percent Latino now its over 40 percent, Nehring writes.

CA doesnt have to be a sign. There are plenty of hardworking, god fearing, family oriented; freedom loving Mexicans. The GOP needs to reach them with a message that aligns with those values. Trump should campaign hard in CA.
The GOP wants to be the DNR lite. Does anyone believe that blacks and Hispanics are down with gender identity politics? Soft on crime? Piss poor schools? Fatherless boys?
That is right folks. The NeverTrumpers and the doom and gloomers are in high gear!!!
We are going to lose so big!! Demographics. All red states are flipping. Everyone hates Trump. Recession coming. People are sick of racist Deplorable Trump and his supporters. More gun control is needed. Trumps former cabinet members speaking out. Arizona is gone, Texas is gone, everywhere is gone!!!
Doom, doom, doom!!!
Trump is toast. Socialism is kewl.
What we need to do is embrace globalism and ask someone like Mitt Romney to come and save us from ourselves. If only we could get a leader like ole Mitt to clearly show us the courage of his lack of convictions.
Wash, rinse and repeat!!
That is a myth!! The People of California voted overwhelmingly to ban illegals from benefits. It was a COURT that said that was somehow unconstitutional.
Trumpism will appeal to legal Hispanics faster than warmed over Bushism will. There was a migration to the sunbelt in the 70s and early 80s, with most of the people moving also assimilating politically. Many of the millenials who like Bernie today will become more conservative as they get older and wiser. If marriage continues to be broken, then more women will continue to vote for more government. There are a lot of ways the future can play out.
FAILED GOP Strategist says...................
Wash, rinse and repeat!!

Ignore, just like all the other times.
It’s not a myth that they eventually took over California with illegals and their kids. Wilson tried to stop it. He failed.
No no. California is bad news for Trump and the GOP. Sure, its a homeless infested s-hole that the democrats own. But that means trouble for the GOP. The things that are trouble for the democrats really dont exist. All is smooth sailing for those guys.
Trump will campaign there and highlight a democrat utopias failings but that is just mean racism.
Doom. GOP strategists are never wrong. just ask President Romney.
I agree with all of you that this guy is a rino but at the same time California Is lost for now the reason was illegal immigration and the leftist Democrat majority in California is beginning to spread out to other States which will flip the electoral college. This is just a fact. It can be stopped but it’s unlikely.
And it isn’t all coming out of California. Millions and millions of illegals are filling up lots of other States.
The problem is good people don’t want to run against the Democrats, so there’s nobody to vote for.
I wouldnt say Wilson failed. I would say he (and the people) were overruled by an activist judicial tyrant. What more could Wilson have done? The people of California were basically told by a black robed god that they had to accept being replaced by a more compliant population.
Sure, I’m just sitting here waiting for some sagacious advice on how to win elections from a guy who was the Republican Chair in California. As if ANYTHING he did or did not do made any difference. I guess this genius never heard of illegal aliens and voter fraud. Anyway taking electoral advice from a guy like this is like taking economic advice from a guy who won a Lenin Peace Prize for Economics. Neither one knows a damned thing about what he’s talking about.
GOP strategists are never wrong. just ask President Romney.

Exactly. Because we just ignore them.
MAGA is not of either political party. It is a movement all its own and that is why Trump is POTUS.
And Mittens is not and will never be.
Ehhh, not so certain of that.
I myself am an economic refugee from Kali. I am now in North TX and have been since 2005. I have never voted dem, either in Kali or here in God’s Country. I don’t always vote GOP, hell, I COULD NOT for McStain or Rummey, but those votes went libertarian.
Showing Americans what CA has done to CA is the way to go.
They have destroyed SF and LA, Portland and Seattle are now Anarchy Cities.
Coming to your city next.
Which is why Dems need open borders, they dont care about illegals, they just want them swarming the country, put them in red states, and flip them blue
Ok youve explained why Dems want open borders. Now tell me: Why do so many Republican leaders want them?
Hear the great man himself (only 23 seconds)
Just think, if ALL those supposedly ‘DEMOCRAT FOREVER’ Latinos and Blacks suddenly voted FOR TRUMP in 2020.................
It would be like a nuclear bomb going off in the Dem Party..............
Republican leaders mostly want open borders because their contributors want it. In addition Republican leaders are secretly liberals and cowards.
