I admit that that ad turned me from not only a customer of gillette, but also an advocate of some of their products, to someone who will NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM THEM EVER AGAIN.
I watched that stupid ad 1 time, and honestly didn’t even notice the race of the villians or the heros... Without this article pointing it out i would not have even known... All I saw was a corporation thinking its job was to lecture ME about what is to be a man, AND WORSE YET, HOW TO RAISE MY SON!

You had a LIFE LONG CUSTOMER, and EVANGELIST for you, and turned them into someone who will NEVER EVER EVER purchase anything you make again.
With all of that said however... Gillettes problems, and loss of revenue are not soley due to their STUPIDITY on this ad, but also the transgender follow up one as well... But more to do with the fact that cheaper options have appeared.
Gillette spent over a BILLION dollars to design and develop the Mach3... and it was an INCREDIBLE product.. and they were rewarded for it. However their attempts to replace it with various newer designs, have not been terribly successful. They have tried to kill off the Mach3 many times, and tried to move folks to their newer 5 blade razors and things, but frankly the newer ones don’t bring much to the table to justify the upgrade... Because of this, the patent on the MACH3 has expired, so now there are far cheaper alternatives to the model, and Gillettes model of charging a premium for blades while “giving away” the razor, is no longer viable. (I wish someone would disrupt this smae model in the inkjet printing world)
Harry’s, Shave Club, and House Brands, all now offer comparable razors at far better price points.... cutting heavily into Gillettes bottom line. Yes the WOKE nonsense certainly cost them some customers... but Gillette’s problems are far more fundamental than making a guy like me who maybe spent $50-$100 a year on their products, go elsewhere. It didn’t help their cause to be sure, but their problems are bigger than that.
Their real problem is $2.50 - $3 a blade is no longer a viable business model.

That's my razor of choice nowadays. With a decent shaving gel, I get very close shaves indeed.
i used to buy gillette lotion, razors, and deodorant. no more.
I would like to know the actual accounting reason for the 8 billion dollar write down. I would also like to see the graph of gillette’s sales figures since the hate white men ads were aired.
