A large-scale power outage in parts of New York City was reported Saturday evening, knocking out traffic lights and limiting subway service.
Con Edison reported that nearly 42,000 customers were without power in an area that included Midtown Manhattan and the Upper West Side. The Metropolitan Transit Authority said
"We're working to identify causes and keep trains moving. More information to come," the MTA tweeted. The agency said trains were bypassing stations impacted by the power failure and service into Manhattan from Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx will be limited.
The A, C, F, D, and M subways lines were down, Councilman Corey Johnson tweeted after talking with ConEd.

It’s a building, all of the subway lines, and these are counted as but ONE customer; it’s NOT a “person”!
Fox reporting persons trapped in elevators and passengers trapped in subway cars. 45,000 customers affected (a customer may be a business, hotel or office building). Fire Dept. says fire is in a below crown transformer beneath a city street.

Get those windmills back to spinning off Long Island.
Fox has cancelled Saturday night programming (Watter’s world, Judge Jeanine) for news coverage. They are running on generators so maybe limiting broardcasting to news.

You still have one building on a generator? Oh gee.
If that happened in Chicago, everybody be shot by now.
Hot, steamy night in NYC. Solar panels don't generate at night, wind may be calm, but the libs can't have natural gas (the most effiecent fossil fuel) power the big cities in the east.
Here in New Mexico the radical libs that took power in January have decreed that all power will be generated by "renewables" in twenty years even as the state gains #3 status as a major oil/gas producer in the US. They are busy enacting rules/regulations etc. to drive the industry out of the state though is provides over 1/3 of all state income. They're all insane!
Where is De Blasio ?
On the campaign ‘trail’?
.005 % OF 8.5 no power, it’s a CATASTROPHE.
West 42nd St. to West 71st St, Fifth Avenue to the river. Basically all of Midtown West.
On the 42nd anniversary of the Great Blackout of 1977. To the day.
1977 there were 50 million people blacked out.
This is somewhere under 50,000.
Has FR Search had an outage too?
You knew this had already been posted.

A customer can be a single billing meter that can have 2 to 20 plus submeters sending pulses to it.
Electric utilities count customers by BILLING meters, thats how their customer information systems are set up.
A single home can be one customer. A 10 MW skyscraper can be one customer.
We found a pottery shard on the location outside of Farmington. Stop the presses. Get an archeologist. As an aside, I lived briefly in Hobbs back around 1985. I remember that the biggest kicks that the hands got was riding around in the back of a pickup on the oil field roads and shooting jack rabbits by the thousands. I only did it once.
Iran, Russia, China - someone is testing their capabilities......why not?
We are vulnerable beyond belief.......not a question of if, but when......
Are you all for real? People in Louisiana are under water tonight and you all are freaking out on some electrical outage for a few hours!!! Unbelievable!!

For real??? Uh yes, for real...
60,000+ CUSTOMERS ( apartments, etc...not a person count) stuck in dark elevators, subways, etc. is something no one would want to be stuck in. They seem to be handling it well, but authorities are saying it will be seveal hours before fixed.
Both are bad situations.
DeBlasio was quoted as saying it was caused by a manhole cover, I am not making that up.
