Fox studios lost power, imagine the job of having to prattle on for hours about a power failure. It either takes a lot of skill or a severe lack of brains.

They cancelled a JLo concert at MSG, a “Hamilton” performance, called in the National Guard, etc.

Looks to me like the city itself took it to be a big deal. Better to be safe than sorry, I guess.

I tuned into watch Fox News just before bedtime last night. This blackout was the ONLY story. Seriously, there was NOTHING happening elsewhere?

They were predicting all power would be restored by midnight. When was it actually restored?

Yeah, very inconvenient, I thought, for those living in Midtown Manhattan. But compared to the folks living in Louisiana? Not!

My neighbor was staying in the city for the weekend - said it didn’t effect her at all (she was a few blocks east of Times Square)

The city can and should do what it wants. Fox News should have treated it differently. Fox's headline said, "Widespread power outages reported in New York City". Fox cable news covered as such and called it a "massive" power outage.

The reality was, about only 7% of the area of Manhattan lost power and there were no outages in the other four boroughs.

It wasn't a"widespread", "massive" power outage.

B-outs remind me of “Dies The Fire” apocalyptic novel. In the book its an EMP style event.

We have a road with a view of a new suburb under construction. Home builders are still locked out while the “basic infrastructure” is being completed. Water/sewer. Electricity. Roads with street lights and traffic lights. What is all if there is no power?

When urban society has only wires and no electricity... the thin blue line holds it altogether against looters and anarchists. In known criminal hotspots what would happen if there was a large (first responders soaking) disaster? If there is no 911 you will obviously need to be armed.
