Senator Kamala Devi Harris (D-California) cannot become president unless she is a natural born Citizen. The U.S. Constitution contains few eligibility criteria for our nations highest post. But being born to the country is one of them. Since a vice president must be able to succeed to the presidency, Harris could not run as vice president, either.
Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 requires that only a natural born citizen can serve as president. The Constitution clearly distinguishes between a citizen and a natural born Citizen. There is a special case of citizen who is also natural born. An interesting but often-ignored requirement is that one must also have been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. The intent indicates an attempt to ensure allegiance to the United States by a strong connection. This was the result of continued loyalties to the British Crown among Tories and others after the Revolutionary War, where some politicians even suggesting the nation should return to a limited monarchy. The Framers thus wanted to eliminate family influences among our presidents.
Some may think of the Fourteenth Amendment. Even if we ignore the requirement that a person born in the country must be under the jurisdiction thereof, the Constitution clearly recognizes that not all citizens are eligible to be president.
Both of Harriss parents were present in the United States under student visas when Harris was born in Oakland, California. They were not U.S. citizens at that time. A student visa requires a non-immigrant intent. That is, one must swear that they have no intent to stay. Harris parents appear to have lied.

‘I suppose the same thing will happen with this natural-born controversy.’
undoubtedly so...and this is quite possibly the mootest of all moot points...
So, are they wasting their money?
Somebodies money not theirs!
One is an anchor baby and one born in Samoa..
uh no natural born means you have 1 way to determine citizenship and no claim to other countries. Your parents are US citizens and your are born a natural US citizen. If your parents are foreigners you can claim another citizenship other than US. So you are not “natural born.” You are just a natural citizen born in the US. That is why you see the different terms used because there are three ways to be a citizen. Naturalized is the third.
The founders didn’t want split allegiances in the position of commander in chief. How would you think they would want the son of a british citizen to be president after the two wars with Britain. The thought of it is ridiculous.
The basis of the “natural born citizen” argument lies with citizenship exclusivity.
Yes, Kamala Harris is a US citizen, born in the USA.
But does she have a different citizenship too?
If she was arrested in the US, would the police have to notify the Jamaican consul?
“Consular notification and access is the obligatory process by which federal, state, and local law enforcement and legal authorities provide information to foreign government representatives regarding their citizens in the United States and permit foreign consular officers to assist their nationals.”

Some politicians are globalists, not 100% loyal to the land of their birth.
The founders wanted the President to have undivided (and unquestionable) loyalty to the USA.
You are incorrect, born in the USA with a US citizen father. Is how the founders would have defined natural born citizen, since a wife assumes the citizenship of her husband back in their day.
In other words no other citizenship but US at birth.
Gabbard has a stronger claim than Harris since American Samoa is a US territory. Should be interesting if anyone of note makes the argument that they are not NBC.
And that is what it is all about. Complete unfettered loyalty by blood line to this country and no other country period, not even family influences. They took absolutely no questionable loyalty risks on purpose.
Sadly, no.
You never heard of dual citizenship? You need to get out more. Someone with dual citizenship at birth is NOT a NBC of the USA.
American Samoa was “unincorporated” when she was born. Samoans were uniquely US Nationals not citizens. However her mother was US citizen and that was an exception to National. Gab was a US citizen at birth.
I could not establish her father’s citizenship. He is said to be a US citizen when he served in congress from Hawaii. What he was when she was born, i do not know.
John Bingham, aka father of the 14th Amendment, was an abolitionist congressman from Ohio who prosecuted Lincolns assassins. Ten years earlier, he stated on the House floor:
All from other lands, who by the terms of [congressional] laws and a compliance with their provisions become naturalized, are adopted citizens of the United States; all other persons born within the Republic, of parents owing allegiance to no other sovereignty, are natural born citizens. Gentleman can find no exception to this statement touching natural-born citizens except what is said in the Constitution relating to Indians. - (Cong. Globe, 37th, 2nd Sess., 1639 (1862))
Then in 1866, Bingham also stated on the House floor:
Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.... - (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))

To take one’s citizenship from the 14th Amendment requires one to take its associated meaning of “natural born” as well.
refer you to #92
So what? After two terms of Obama, no one apparently cares. He wasnt even a naturalized citizen.
Dual citizenship[edit]
Picture of two passport documents.
Dual citizenship means persons can travel with two passports. Both the United States and Nicaragua permit dual citizenship.
A person who is considered a citizen by more than one nation has dual citizenship. It is possible for a United States citizen to have dual citizenship; this can be achieved in various ways, such as by birth in the United States to a parent who is a citizen of a foreign country (or in certain circumstances the foreign nationality may be transmitted even by a grandparent) by birth in another country to a parent(s) who is/are a United States citizen/s, or by having parents who are citizens of different countries. Anyone who becomes a naturalized U.S. citizen is required to renounce any prior “allegiance” to other countries during the naturalization ceremony;[24] however, this renunciation of allegiance is generally not considered[clarification needed] renunciation of citizenship to those countries.[25][failed verification] WIKI
As of April 2019 the population of American Samoa is approximately 55,689 people.[1][6][7] Most of them are “nationals but not citizens of the United States at birth”.[8][7][6] Most American Samoans are bilingual and can speak English and Samoan fluently. Samoan is the same language spoken in neighboring independent Samoa.
re being born in Samoa
Regardless of where they are born, children of U.S. citizens are U.S. citizens in most cases. Children born outside the United States with at least one U.S. citizen parent usually have birthright citizenship by parentage.
Harris is not eligible to be president or VP. Been saying that for a few weeks now.
Her father is proud of his white ancestry. Hes ashamed of his daughter for labeling Jamaicans as pot smokers.
