China, being a major partner with it’s mfgrs is heavily subsidizing them and even though the tariffs are paid by the importer the exporter will be able to sell at a much lower price and thereby remain competive dispite the tariffs.
The rest of any unreasonable increases are being absorbed by the importer and the wholesaler.

That is the economic system; the culture, that made the US the powerhouse it once was. Everyone pulled their own weight - but there was the means to pull your own weight if/when you needed to.
Hard to explain, but putting it the way you did makes it easier to realize what a disaster so-called ‘transfer payments’ (welfare/UI) actually was.
In the beginning it might have been ‘okay’, but it is all so out of control now.

Economies, technologies and lifestyles change.
You can't stop that change because the laws of economics are what they are, so you have two choices.
You can bitch and moan and try to go backwards or you can get out in front of the change and make the most of it.
You can't point me to a society that's prospered, or even survived, by walling itself off and ignoring the changes going on around it.
The Chinese have not passed the Tariff costs unto the American consumer, they are absorbing them with the help of the Chinese government.
This woman is one of 330 million people in this country with an opinion. Unfortunately, like many, it is wrong. She is wrong and no one should pay her any heed and perhaps ask the bus driver next time you get on the bus what he thinks about Trump’s approach. He may be one of the 330 million who is right.
The Chinese don't pay the tariff costs. The importer does.
Converting capital from cash to an assembly line is better than spending cash on someone else's finished product, because when the purchased product is consumed you have nothing but the assembly line is an asset you own until it depreciates.
Some assets depreciate slowly, others faster.
Give someone a fish, feed him for a day. Teach someone to fish, feed him for life.
It's the same principle - in a service economy people have to rely on others for fish. In a capital economy people own the means to acquire their own fish.
The person who uses their own car for Uber or Lyft is in a capital economy,he can travel whenever he wants to wherever he wants. The person who consumes Uber or Lyft is at the mercy of the driver to be willing to drive the person where he wants to go, when he wants to go.
Capital economies control their own destiny, service economies eventually drain their resources through endless consumption.

If the Chisese are absorbing them they aren't going into our coffers.

True, but their argument is the bottom line, and there are those here who harbor the same concerns. So my message is mainly aimed at them.
