New York Could Be the First State to Decriminalize Sex Work [Barf Alert]

New York is aiming to become the first state in America to fully decriminalize sex work via a new bill introduced this morning by legislators and activists from Decrim NY, a coalition of various organizations advocating for the rights of sex workers.

The bill, called Stop Violence in the Sex Trades Act, is sponsored by Democratic Senators Jessica Ramos and Julia Salazar as well as Assemblymembers Richard Gottfried and Yuh-Line Niou. It is the first statewide bill of its kind in the history of the United States and purposefully cites no reference to a specific gender in its language.

Currently, New York State law has over two dozen antiprostitution penal codes. About half of them pertain only to sex work between consenting adults, while the other statutes focus on trafficking, exploitation of minors, and coercion in the sex trades.

This bill upholds the felony antitrafficking statutes designed to punish traffickers as well as to protect minors, but it would repeal important sections in the penal code that prohibit prostitution and the criminalization of consenting adults.

They prefer the euphemism because the term “prostitute” would only serve to highlight all the democrats in the various legislatures.

Proponents of federal “decriminalization” of these quality of life laws are essentially gunning to outlaw any & all variations of community standards.

Tired of Pride parades, nekkid men, hookers & potheads accosting you on city streets? Want to leave them to their own preferences & just move out? Tough.
They’ll bring San Francisco to where you are, bigot.

Soon it’ll be impossible to move anyplace safe to raise your kids.

If this IS, in fact, “work,” the kind that is commerce, then the sex workers would no doubt be held to non-discrimination laws just like wedding vendors, right? In other words, they can’t say no to any undesireable Jon.

New York is aiming to become the first state in America to fully decriminalize sex work...

Who describes sex as "work?"

A woman can do what she wants with her body - good. A man receives pleasure through consensual sex - bad.

He has to promise not to enjoy it.

The bottom line is tax revenue. Most liberal Americans actually think the left cares about everything they stand for. It’s all about money which is power. The GOP and the rest of the swamp is not much different.

New York, do it right. Outlaw pimping and please enforce that. I lived in a European city where sex work was legal and pimping illegal, but pimping still occurred. Find a way to stop the “owning” of prostitutes. That is more of a crime and more harmful than someone paying someone for sex.

You are actually wrong. Pimping turns out to be highly harmful to the life and health of the workers. There is a difference between running a call girl agency or a house of ill repute, and pimping. Pimping is closer to slave owning and about as nice.

I certainly don’t care if a man or woman are prostitutes. That’s the customers problem, not mine.

The left will make it your problem. Do you have children? Be prepared for the left to counsel them that prostitution is a legitimate calling. The high-casualty health hazards will also require publicly funded health benefits as a "right," something we all pay for.

my kids are grown women. I’m not worried about them suddenly deciding to be whores.

I like it. However, the undesirables would have to endure a long line behind all of the politicians.
