The Truth about Radiometric Dating

June 2019

Prove it. That’s the challenge biblical creationists often face when discussing the scientific validity of the Genesis creation account with skeptics. Many people leave the church, especially young adults, when they think that the Bible and science can’t be harmonized. But what if incredible harmony actually exists?

Those who believe in millions and billions of years often point to radiometric dating as indisputable scientific proof that Earth is old. Since the biblical timeline indicates a young earth that’s only about 6,000 years old, creation scientists must address the radiometric dating issue. We need someone with great expertise to take a critical look at these methods and pull all the findings together.

ICR Research Associate Dr. Vernon Cupps’ new book Rethinking Radiometric Dating: Evidence for a Young Earth from a Nuclear Physicist fulfills this need.

I thought this was going to be some new-tech dating fad, like speed dating, etc.

Not that I’m in the market.

I love that Creationists remove their children from the competition for lucrative jobs, because it leave my children free to efficiently assume them.

Thank you!

“Since the biblical timeline indicates a young earth that’s only about 6,000 years old,”

It would take a lot longer than 24 hours for Adam to check out all the animals for a suitable companion therefore God’s days are not the same as our 24 hour days.

Then there's us:

Creationist,

Not "young earther", (To God a day is like a thousand years),

No confidence in carbon dating.

I thought this was going to be some new-tech dating fad, like speed dating, etc.

That was my first thought too.

As for the age of the earth, give it up. Sedimentary rocks, upended in vertical position, then covered with another layer of sedimentary rocks, still horizontal, then covered with another layer, upended to vertical, then a final crowning layer of horizontal... c’mon people, this is 19th century geology here. Give it up.

Maybe get a metric dating app for you phone and go out and have some fun.

Is a belief in creationism a prerequisite to Salvation?

I take it you disagree with the book but are unable to reply to anything it says. Maybe your children could.

To speak to your point I can tell you something you seem not to know - children who learn creation science know far more about evolution theory than evolution trained children. Learning all theories seems to bring that out. So if a job required knowledge of evolution theory (or global warming theories for that matter) the creation trained children would most likely excel.

On a related note, the discovery of the actual locations of Sodom and Gomorrah is borne out by how each of these cities, along with the other three ciites of Belah (Zoar), Admah, and Zebooim:

1.) All are easily distinguishable from surrounding features due to massive Calcium Carbonate and Calcium Sulfate deposits, that in the case of the location for Zoar, has an outline of an almost perfect square and outside of it this city are totally different compositions.

2.) On the outside of and in the Calcium Carbonate and Calcium Sulfate deposits one can find sulphur balls (Brimstone) that can still be set on fire with even just a lighter.

3.) These Brimstone nodules can be seen to have been snuffed out shortly after impact and again are found imbedded in the Calcium Carbonate and Calcium Sulfate which are produced when Sulphur comes into contact with Limestone and burns at high temperatures.

4.) Within several location of these five cities numerous right angle features have been found.

5.) Scientists have argued that a volcano or comet could have produced the remnains of the five cities but it would have been a volcano with smart bomb technology to hit all five cities and leave massive remians of Calcium Carbonate and Calcium Sulfate but not laeve these remains in between the five cities to the degree in has in only these five locations.

6.) The sulfur (Brimstione) nodules, hundreds of thousands of them, are all around 97% purity which is not a natural product of volcanoes.

7.) The lattice structure of the sulfur fom volcanoes, thermal vents, etc, is remarkable different compared to the lattice structure of the sulfur found at the five locations.

8.) Features have been found that determine that temperatures of around 6,000 degree farenheit were reached at theses locations.

The Bible is correct in Genesis about a God that destroys wicked sinners and thus for that reason alone (and 1-8) we all need to repent and accept his love gift, Jesus Christ.

Creation is fundamental to believing God and taking Him at His word. God says He created life and this world. To deny that is de facto calling God a liar.

Why even bring up radiocarbon dating its irrelevant to these types of measurements?

Lucre? You can have it all.
I know doctor’s, lawyer, engineers etc that disbelieve evolution. They make good money and help grow the kingdom of God.

Somewhat poor analogy.

What if a group of children were taught that books were evil, that paperbacks were of the devil, softbacks would lead one to perdition, hard-bound books were the gateway to hell. Such children would be drilled in their hatred and fear of books, and trained to recognize at a glance a pocketbook, to differentiate between a folio and a palimpsest, etc.

Such children would end up knowing a lot more about books that an average child - but would they be more-capable of working at a job requiring a knowledge of books, e.g., as librarians, booksellers, or book-restaurers?

Regards,

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth...” (first line of the Apostles Creed)

Yes, belief in God as creator is a prerequisite to Salvation. Otherwise you don’t believe in God as God at all.

Do you need to believe in the “young earth” form of creationism? No. How God did it, and how long it took....is immaterial to Him being creator.

There’s a youtube clip I’ve seen ( a year ago ? ) that shows one of those sulphur balls being ignited.
