A New York City Firefighter sustained a concussion and several broken teeth Saturday after police say he was assaulted while trying to stop a group of teens from harassing an elderly couple.
The 38-year-old off-duty firefighter was traveling on East 86th St. in Manhattan at around 9:25 a.m. Saturday when he noticed six teens “harassing” an elderly couple, a spokesperson with the New York City Police Department told Fox News.
The man reportedly tried to intervene -- and police say that’s when one unidentified member of the group punched the firefighter “with a closed fist,” knocking him to the ground.

Virtue signaling? No.
Permit me tell you what motivated me to make that statement in my post #1.
I once had a conversation about this with a Black Freeper, via FR mail. It was after a story something like this one. I had made a comment about the “Amish” thing, and he contacted me. He said the “Amish” thing often leads to veiled racist posts. Defects in African DNA, and all that crap.
He was wrong if he thought that all “Amish” postings were racist. That’s very far from the truth! And as they say, sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can never hurt you.
But yet I think he has a point.
Back when the Nation was still partially free (30's, 40's, 50's), your remarks would have been unheard of... Americans defended Americans...

I don’t quite follow. I never said that the man should not intervene. What I did say is that - as a general rule - do it with some sort of plan in mind. At least provide for the possibility of police assistance.
(By the way, I don’t know if the man called 911 first or not. The article didn’t say.)
As a southerner who’s grown up his entire life having his ancestors shamed by New Yorker’s, I am certain this “old couple” is a complete fabrication and that these young people were just minding their own business when this so-called fire fighter tried to lynch them for NO REASON!

If I saw kids harassing an elderly person I would have to say something to. I probably wouldn’t even think to call police before intervening either. Minutes, heck seconds, matter. Help needs to be there now. And an elderly person is fragile.
The fireman is used to being the rescuer. God bless him.

Prosecutors are anxiously awaiting the youths’ arrest.
So they can drop the charges.
Now to be replaced with (the Republican) “Amash”.

And here’s something I should have mentioned earlier. Years ago, I was walking the halls of a high school where I was teaching. And I came across a bloody fight. No weapons were involved. The kid who was bleeding had her head smashed up against the wall.
The protocol is to wait for security. But the bleeding kid was getting messed up bad. So I intervened immediately, and stopped the bleeding kid from getting hurt further. I also took a punch to the side of the head, and ended up in the hospital with a concussion.
So I don’t always practice what I preach!

there is far too much violence by blacks....much of it against other blacks but disturbing amount directed at whites that just happen to be on a city bus or in a city park or a city street etc....
freepers generally come down on all crime including white trash crime and none of us are shy about calling it as we see it...
