Trump voter base would recoil at attack on Venezuela or Iran, backers warn
Washington Examiner ^ | May 9, 2019

President Trump would destabilize his reelection coalition if he attacks Iran or Venezuela, supporters and outside observers say, as key administration officials threaten war.

Trump is nearly alone inside the West Wing as the voice for military restraint following a phase-out of grassroots backers, five former White House aides say, leaving the often mercurial president with advisers pushing in one direction.

Wars often rally the public around a president, but a Trump-led intervention might hurt him.

Not sure if anyone could have done something better in that situation.

It’s a mess.

Fake. Trump would gain support if he excised the socialist scourge wherever he found it.

Venezuela is none of our business.

The only thing shocking about Shock and Awe was Bush didn’t have the cajones to turn the whole ME into a sheet of glass.

The left has already said they need to put a wedge between Trump supporters and the GOP-e.
This would do it.

Get rid of that neo-con Bolton.

I've had that guy on my radar screen for years. For the life of me, I can't imagine why Trump would hire some jerk who probably would have been at the top of the list of candidates for Secretary of State in a Jeb Bush administration.

Shoot one Banana Republic Despot and ten more step up to take his place. Broad military action is a waste of time.

Now sending a cruise missile to take out Maduro and his ilk is not too bad of an idea. It doesn’t require ground troops.

It isn’t good for the arms industries’ bottom lines though...

re: “Venezuela is none of our business.”

Two words: Monroe Doctrine.

A stable hemisphere is in our interest.

Let me ask you, do you want ALL of South America making their way across our southern border?

I’d rather we didn’t get into anything, but if , for some reason we do, I hope President Trump does enough right off the bat to end it and not let anything linger on and on like Afghanistan and Vietnam did....

End it quick...Blow hell outta them....

Iran has killed and enslaved Americans. It should of had its ass kicked back in 1980.

I would heartily support POTUS sending a thunderous message to Castro in Cuba to get back to their shith#le island.

And I know POTUS would do it without a single loss of life.

Laugh it up socialists! Laugh and smile while you can!

Just like your hero, this is what awaits you:

He never looked better.

Of course Castro sold him out, he was turning out to be a big PITA to Fidel.

Venezuela is a hard one. Don’t want to follow the neocon warmongers into that nation, but Russia and Cuba have no business there. Seize the airports?

Trump won the GOP primaries because he distinguished himself from the GOP establishment on three major issues: immigration (restriction vs. amnesty/open borders), trade (tariffs vs. "free trade") and foreign policy (non-intervention vs. more wars and nation-building abroad).

Unfortunately, the people that Trump surrounds himself with in the WH are closer to the GOP establishment's view of things, and they're softening Trump's position on the first two and reversing it on the latter. The last thing we need is a situation where we send US troops to Venezuela - we then wind up "owning" the conflict, flood of refugees and all.

I’d be just peachy with bombing Iran or Venezuela. We could set it up like a ‘football pool’ and bet on body-counts.
