As a reminder. Right after 911, the IAFF gave donations from the public to Hillary Clinton for her senatorial campaign, instead of the families.
This is absolutely true, and I know this because that is who I donated to, thinking it would go to the families of fallen firefighters. When I found out where it went I sent a scathing letter to the then President of the IAFF. I received an equally scathing response from him, assuring me that electing Hillary Clinton was the best thing for them.
However I am highly skeptical of US Firefighters being behind him.
That includes my son.
The IAFF doesn't represent the real, polished, kick-butt, military-style fire departments like New York's FDNY, which has its own 17,000-member union called the Uniformed Firefighters' Association (UFA). The UFA split off from the IAFF in 1980. The rank-and-file and leadership of the UFA, like America's firemen in general, tend to be very patriotic and conservative.
