Yep, and not only fire departments but police departments as well. PC is a dangerous ideology, and hiring practices that jeopardize public safety make that blatantly obvious.
I lived in Chicago for three months 43 years ago.
Have visited many times since.
Seems to me the further away from Chicago you get the less they give a damn about infrastructure. Roads bridges etc?

I have a few dumbasses in my family as well. However, I am glad to say that they make up a small portion of the family.

Retired FF...Thruout my career I watched in awe as time and again the union political hack in the bag for the Dims “leadership” endorsed some Dim POS...
Each time asked those leaders how it helps the rank and file to vote in some party hack on the promise of another dollar in a pay raise just to watch as they take 5 in new taxes? Never got a straight answer, but did get called a few names...Kept getting told to “vote your paycheck”...My reply was I’m voting my kids’ future...
I’ve voted in every election since coming of age and voted straight R every time...Most of the guys I worked with were pretty conservative, but also know large departments in Dim controlled cities, not so much...
Why do Union rank & file keep voting in these people that then make democrat friendly endorsements ? As a Teamster I know this does not all occur in a vacuum. WE elect these dudes ...
