President Donald Trump during a Saturday rally in Wisconsin described a phone call with the leader of Saudi Arabia in which he demanded more money from the oil-rich nation.
Look, Saudi Arabia, very rich country, we defend them, we subsidize Saudi Arabia. They have nothing but cash, right? We subsidize them. And they buy a lot from us, $450 billion they bought, Trump began. You know, You had people wanting to cut off Saudi Arabia. They bought $450 billion. I dont want to lose em! But the military, we subsidize Saudi Arabia!
I called the King, he continued. I like the King. I said King, were losing our ass defending you, King, and you have a lot of money. Thats true. And he said but why would you be calling me, nobody has ever made such a call before. I said thats because they were stupid! So were working a deal with Saudi Arabia. So many places. So many places. I tell you what, honestly, its easier than collecting $113.57 from a tenant in a bad location in New York City. And its safer too.

>>>Whatswrong with killing the Jihadi vermin in their nests?
Well, if you think it’s that important, why complain about the cost?
>>>Thank goodness he did. Iran is the bully in the ME, and we need to thwart them. Theyve killed many Americans since 79
Well, if you think it’s that important for America’s interest, why complain about the cost?
Tell the saudis to pay. They have the money. Besides, they fund the spread of *slam throughout the formerly civilized world. *slam leads to terrorism, so saudi arabia is also funding terrorism.
Checked the charts lately on USD vs Euro, Ruble, Yuan or anything else for that matter? Dollar bull says nobodys going anywhere.
Syria, Yemen, Niger, etc? We’ve lost soldiers in all of those shitholes.
That's what they tell me, anyway.
I agree, but should point out I was addressing the Soros activity in Tunisia.
I should also say that I don’t buy into the idea the Saudi Arabian government was involved. By saying I agree, I was in effect intimating that I agree the Bush administration looked the other way.
It’s not my belief that Bush looked the other way full knowing that the Saudi King had signed on to the attack.
Is it really your take that the wife of Prince Bin Turki was aware of the attack plan, and was therefore financing the attack on purpose?
Look, I’d be surprised if many of the Saudi Students in the U. S. ARE NOT getting some form of funding from Saudi Princes or their wives. That doesn’t mean that they know everything those students/student groups are going to do with the funds.
Perhaps she did. I don’t want to imply I know dead certain she didn’t. Anything is possible. I do think it’s more likely she didn’t, but then I’m open to proof of it.
I guess it’s okay then to provoke the Saudi’s to sell their oil in currencies other than US Dollars? China and others have been wooing them to accept their currencies as well for a while now.
So far they have resisted.
The administration is aware of what happens if/when the petrodollar becomes a thing of the past, right?
$22 Trillion in debt and total dependence on the petrodollar to maintain reserve currency status doesn’t give one a whole lot of leverage.
But, we’ll see how this works out. Maybe the Saudi King will happily pay up and go on as usual.
See posts 9, 12, and 22, genius.
Nope. Try reading all of the comments above, then see if you can figure out why I phrased my comment as I did. Good luck. No time limit.
No, you touch on a valid point regarding the Wahhabi sect. It is true that this element is stridently anti-Western.
The King and his inner circle do what I consider a reasoned job of keeping the Wahhabists in check. We don’t see pronounced continuing problems out of that group. I would even moderate that comment a bit.
There are competing interests in Saudi Arabia. I think it could be a lot worse if we lost close relations with the leadership, and other more radical elements were able to topple the king and take over.
This would be acutely worse if Russia or China were to become the power the Saudis grew closer to.
IMO < the Saudi Kingdom remains reasonably close to the U. S. and could certainly be a lot worse for us, if we weren’t careful.
PUBLIC POLITICIANS are LOSERS -
This is just SO DISGUSTING how public politicians are complete losers to a private business citizen like Trump.
Republicans must realize how stupid and foolish they now look compared to a LION. Politics will NEVER be the same the rest of my life.
Public Politicians are seen now as TOTAL LOSERS ! They can never recover from that image.
I pretty much agree with what you say. But the grovelling and ass kissing that Bush and his Houston clique engaged in starting with ‘Religion of Peace’ telegraphed to many Americans that the lives and safety of average Americans were secondary or even tertiary to the wealth accumulation of a parasitic insider clique of American lawyers, oil company executives and lobbyists.
It's my belief that he did for many of the same reasons Europe puts up with Iran. We needed the oil. The Saudis may have given the hijackers money to pacify other threats figuring that they would never be able to pull it off. But they did. That's what happens when you try and play both sides. Sometimes it comes back to bite you.
So, because our enemy is persistent, we should appease them?
Trump is nailhead on this. The Saudis benefit from our assistance against Iran. Should they not help with the costs. He is right on this, like he is right with NATO.
Toss sayyid qutb in Egypt into the mix and we have: Sayyid Qutb Profile and Biography Father of Modern Islamic Extremism.
While barely known in the United States, Sayyid Qutb is the one man who could be considered the ideological grandfather of Osama bin Laden and the other extremists who surround him.
Although Sayyid Qutb started out as a literary critic, he became radicalized on a trip to the United States. Qutb traveled through America from 1948 to 1950, and was shocked at the moral and spiritual degeneracy he observed, stating that “No one is more distant than the Americans from spirituality and piety.” This is something that would probably surprise Christian fundamentalists, who look upon this time quite fondly.
Not even American churches escaped his angry notice, and in his narratives he relates this incident:
Every young man took the hand of a young woman. And these were the young men and women who had just been singing their hymns! Red and blue lights, with only a few white lamps, illuminated the dance floor. The room became a confusion of feet and legs: arms twisted around hips; lips met lips; chests pressed together.
