I was a member at one time but they spent at least twice what my membership cost mailing me asking for more money so after a few years of that I let my membership lapse.
Roger that.
That is much how I see it, although I have long admired Oliver North and would rather have seen him come out on top.
I don’t see an issue with the NRA being a shill for the firearm industry as long as they support the 2nd Amendment faithfully.
We cannot have a 2nd Amendment if we allow the firearm industry to be destroyed, which is the primary objective of the Left. If they were honest and believed their own crap, they would support a repeal of the amendment.
But they know that won’t happen. So they are focused on what Leftists do, which is removing the ability of people (via extraconstitutional methods) to exercise those Constitutional rights by building increasing walls of cost, legislation, and societal disapproval around the observation and exercise of those rights.
In this case, one facet is by removing the ability to purchase firearms by putting the gun manufacturers out of business, making them so costly to obtain that regular people cannot do it, increasing the costs of ammunition and licensing, attacking the credit cards and banks used to buy them or provide capital to the industry, boycotting vendors, and so on.
Anyone who fights that, even (or especially) an industry who simply wants to make money selling the firearms...I support.
Yes, they call me everyday. I kinda look forward to it. Don’t have the resources to be a life member, just $35 a year.
Im ambivalent about them myself
Yes, I know. At least join up during the late 2020 presidential campaign. It helps to scare the heck out of the socialist gungrabbing usurpers of the democratic party!
The NRA is more establishment, so I think that it is getting corrupted. I’ve heard of a other group that supports gun rights...can anyone confirm...
This is the org that has the sharia compliant Grover Norquist on its board
I am sure that I could find reasons to not support the NRA but I am a life member and bought all my kids and grandkids memberships because they are the most effective 2A organization going. I also support the SAF and JPFO just because I like them. I dont care a whole lot about North one way or the other.
I don't think I've spent $200,000 total on clothes for my entire family my whole *life*.

My gut feeling is to side with Ollie North on this one. Saying Wayne LaPierre is “too entrenched” is an understatement. I remember when was “Executive Vice President” of the NRA when Charlton Heston was President in the 90s. NRA Presidents come and go, but LaPierre has been the organziation’s Vice President for decades. He ALWAYS keeps his job no matter who is technically “in charge” of the NRA, ala J. Edgar Hoover or something. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes that we’re not being told about, and it sounds like Ollie North was trying to shed some light on it so LaPierre had him purged.
“3) NRA is probably not without corruption - lots of money”
That’s why I only donate about every 10th mail solicitation. And recently I’ve been getting a couple of robo calls just about every day. They’ve had major internal upheavals in the past but usually come out stronger.
NRA flied lawsuit against marketing company that has done its work for 38 years. Advertising company had million dollar contracts with Dana Loesch and Oliver North for NRATV. NRA asked for details and contracts, and advertising company refused. Advertising company is accused of extorting and blackmailing NRA to cease the lawsuit, by threatening to release private financial details.

“Dont you have the ability to block the number?”
That would require caller ID.”
I have caller ID/blocking but it’s completely full. I have delete blocked callers to add new ones.

I didn’t research it but my memory is they caved on the infamous Hughes amendment in 1986 in order to get the Firearms Owners Protection Act. This jewel cut off full auto private ownership of guns made after 1986 and drove prices off the charts for pre-1986 specimens.
What was Ollies stance....with the consulting group?
