How did things ever get so far? I dont know. It was so unfortunate, so unnecessary.
Don Corleone, The Godfather
I keep thinking about the dynamics the past few years between the president and what used to be called official Washington. That relationship is ugly and broken, but it could have been otherwise.
he old ambassadors were willing to give him a chance. He destabilized the whole town instead.

Because we remember how much of a master GWB was concerning things like that, eh?
Irrelevant Has-Been who just doesnt get it.
What a Swamp gasbag.
Peggy Noonan=Boosh Turd
Isn’t Noonon like a crazy loon?
The deep state should be thinking about a different Godfather quote:
“And then, I do not forgive.”
O stopped reading Noonan after she threw Sarah Palin under the bus.
Noonan has been as much help identifying and thwarting the socialist onslaught as Jerry Nadler.
Uh, he was elected to DRAIN THE SWAMP!
You can’t do that by playing footsies with the swamp critters.
Best election, best POTUS, best man for the job, evah!
Time to jail the other half.
Wow...the stupid is very, very thick on Peggy Noonan.
Does she have late stage dementia? Thats the only possible fig leaf....
Shouldn’t the headline read
‘Trump still has half of Washington to contend with as he continues the never-ending, almost impossible task of ‘draining the swamp’
Yes, “official Washington” could have come together for the good of the country and joined Trump. Instead, they chose to stick together for the good of their own inner-circle.
Make no mistake, WE are the resistance, not the elites, and not the fascists.
I didnt know he had half of Washington. And to lose it.... hes doomed I tell ya.
Trump was always under Republican establishment attack.
I’m not sure why even to this day.
The Republican Congress was of no substantial legislative help to Trump or the nation.
“so unfortunate, so unnecessary”
A broken relationship is what I voted for.
If it was "otherwise," I wouldn't like Trump very much.
Get used to it, Peggy. Real Americans voted for Donald Trump because we've had enough of the sh!t we've been fed by propagandists like you and the people you work for.
E Deplorabus Unum
Where does one even begin with this elitist tripe? How dare Trump lose half of the most intelligent superior beings ever to walk the Earth?!?! Oh the horror of insulting the DC cocktail party set!!
I cannot stomach Peggy Noonan. She is precisely the kind of person who has brought us to the situation we are at today.
She thinks it is far more important for politicians to get along than to do what is both morally right and constitutionally right.
How Trump Lost Half of Washington? Easy. He took the view that it is more important to do what is right for this country and for the Constitution than it is to do what is right for politicians.
And the fact that his actions pose more of a threat to the “Gravy Train” than has ever existed before is reason enough to explain the irrational vilification of President Trump.
