Mormons reverse policy, allow blessings and baptism for kids of gay parents

Children of LGBT parents can now be blessed or baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, church officials declared in a new policy on Thursday, dramatically reversing a 2015 decision that excluded those children from the rituals until they were 18. The church will also update its handbook for leaders, removing the label of “apostasy” for same-sex marriage.

I think this goes to a bigger issue, i.e. Mormonism does not base its beliefs on scripture.

Any time someone in charge of the church has a "revelation" they can annul whatever problematic doctrine crops up.

It's similar to Islam in that way.

hard to believe the once-very-moral (after 1890’s revelation, anyway) Mormon LDS church is going the way of Satan

(the children of immoral parents should not be punished, I agree with that much...it is clearly Biblical and moral that the children should not be punished for the sins of their parents or anyone else....... but... the rest of this sounds mostly very very wrong, however.. so very sad for the LDS church)

I’ve heard the church has made some very bad business decisions - one example is some huge mall in Salt Lake. Enormous cost overruns in construction, trouble getting tenants, keeping tenants, etc. all eating into church funds which of course come from the flock. Also the giant mall biz model is not what it once was!

So this is probably a decision based on the Benjamins!
