[Kamala] Harris: Time For The Old Guard To “Pass The Baton” [ed]
Hot Air ^ | March 25, 2019 | Jazz Shaw

One of the firmest rules in modern American politics these days is that candidates need to get out there and define themselves before somebody else gets a chance to do it for them. That seems to be a lesson that hasn’t been lost on California Senator and presidential hopeful Kamala Harris (D). Her greatest fear clearly appears to be the risk of being seen as part of the old Democratic establishment in an era of aggressive young socialists influencing their party. She made that point clear when she showed up for church services in Atlanta this weekend, talking about the “end of an era” for the Democratic Party and how people should know when it’s time to “pass the baton.” (Associated Press)

Kamalalalala doesn’t like our Constitution, the glue that holds the USA together, she has no use for it or for the Declaration of Independence...Out side of California, there is little use for Pamalalala Harris.

“Willie Brown said she liked batons while she was on his staff.”

Is that a double entendre?

Sleeping her way to power isn’t a qualification we wish to support. And she’s ineligible for presidency anyway so she may as well shut up and enjoy her lucrative gravy train in the senate.

Like she passed willie’s baton, right?

cameltoe’s favorite spot in the CA administration was sitting on willie’s staff.

It is way past time for the Boomer Dinosaurs to get the eff out the way.

McConnell & Schumer & McCarthy & Pelosi, NONE of whom have had a job outside politics for DECADES, have NOTHING in common with regular Americans.

The “Greatest Generation” and the “Baby Boommers” were and are generally elite socialists, with their greed masked in gerry-mandered crony capitalism. Great Depression, social engineering, endless wars and financial hackery since we left the gold standard have all been absorbed into their DNA.

God, Gold & Guns pushed out of the American Family for nearly 50 years, ALL VOTED INTO PLACE by a gang of thieves, that have spent YOUR GRANDCHILDREN into the Poor House.

Me? I’ve Gone Gault.
No, you can’t join me in my gulch.

Any ideas why so many refuse to get the concept?
Is it just their adoration of a particular ineligible?
There are so many of them today.

To: C19fan; All

i am getting kamala-spam from my yahoo email account. it is some kind of survey. why am i getting it? what should i do with it?

the temptation is strong to spam them back, but i don’t want to go on any forced re-education camp attendance lists for if and when the liberals re-take the federal government. it’s a joke but it does not totally feel like a joke any more... :-(

I think people get stuck on a certain literal translation of the Constitution, and then ego keeps them from admitting other interpretations.

The biggest one, to me, is "only two types of citizen, citizen-at-birth and naturalized." They invent the idea that "natural born" is a third type of citizen that is not mentioned in the Constitution. To me, this comes from the 14th amendment's text "All persons born or naturalized in the United States..." which was not there when the "natural born" qualifier was first added to Article II.

The second reason is a rejection that Vattel's Law of Nations was a source for the language regarding natural law and citizenship. Why they want or need to reject this, I don't know.

For me, I reject the notion that "natural born" is a distinct class of citizenship not spelled out in the Constitution. I say that it is a further qualification to be President, along with being at least 35 years old and a resident for 14 years. We don't say that "citizen at least 35 years old" is a distinct class of citizen because it's in Article II's qualification to be President, but we do say that "citizen... who is natural born..." is.

A simple switching of the grammar of Article II from:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

to:

No person shall be eligible to the Office of President who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States, and be a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution.

...does not change the meaning of Article II, but it makes clearer that being "natural born" is a qualification and not a class of citizen. As a qualification, it opens up the discussion to why this special qualification was desired.

We have John Jay's letter to Washington and Thomas Paine's writings in The Rights of Man to explain why the Framers wanted only descendants of citizens to be President. This was spelled out by the Framers in the Preamble to the Constitution as "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."
