Fascism Today and Where to Find It

To see populism as the problem is to see the events upside-down. People wanting to take control of their own destinies is a good thing. The problem lies with the fragility or even nonexistence of lawful institutions — or sufficient forces to defend them — and with the oligarchic, incompetent, or authoritarian rule that provoked populist reactions in the first place.

The criticism of "populism" and "nationalism" tends to become a criticism of "democracy" or even a corporatist protection of an institutionalised oligarchy.

Thus, mainstream media's reporting that populism and nationalism are a threat is misdirecting the people from the issues that really matter.

Many of us strongly disagree with some of President Trump's views, me included. Churchill was wrong on a variety of issues, and some of his declarations were unacceptable even by the standards of his own time, let alone now. Yet he was far-sighted in understanding where the main danger was.

When we witness a confrontation between Trump and Khamenei, exactly as when we witnessed a confrontation between Churchill and Hitler, no one can doubt where the fascism threat lies and on which side we shall stand.

Anytime you purchase something that the government has generously subsidized in order to crush competition simply because they feel it suits the arbitrary and capricious interests of the state, then you are participating in fascism. So to answer the headline, you can find it at say your local Tesla dealership.

How are socialism and fascism mutually exclusive? Socialists only explain socialism by pointing out its flaws. But how does socialism correct them? By putting a small group of “intellectuals” in charge of all the resources, effectively creating fascism.

By pointing out the flaws of capitalism, that is.

Socialism and fascism are the same thing.
What does “social justice” mean? It means work guaranteed, fair wages, decent homes; it means the possibility of continuous evolution and improvement. […] As the past (19th) century was the century of capitalist power, the 20th century is the century of the power and glory of labor.
That is a quote from Mussolini, from 1935; he was already several years into his reign as a fascist. That kind of rhetoric is indistinguishable from socialist rhetoric.

The broad term is Collectivism. Politics of the collective — the group.

America is supposed to be about the Individual. But when you see Identity Politics, it’s just putting people into groups and declaring that the group matters more than the individual. Fascism, Socialism — they are all about the Collective.

Mosley was one of the most dynamic speakers I’ve ever heard.

The tragedy is he blew it all when he cast his lot with Mussolini, and then Hitler.
