Amazon, Inc. was forced to withdraw its bid to locate a second headquarters facility in New York City two weeks ago, but New York state and city political leadership hasn't forgotten them.
Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, major unions, and businesses have all begun a fierce lobbying campaign to woo Amazon back to the city. The governor has been active, talking to Amazon executives including CEO Jeff Bezos, about a new location The original deal was cancelled when radical socialist politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez objected to the tax breaks being given away to convince Amazon to choose New York City.
The reason for the campaign to bring Amazon back? It's all about the Benjamins.
In an attempt to save the Amazon plan, Cuomo has spent the last two weeks privately talking with Amazon executives, including Bezos, two people with knowledge of the conversations told the New York Times. While Cuomo did not offer a new location for the HQ2 plan, he did guarantee the executives that there would be support for the plan, according to one of the Times sources. In addition Cuomo's efforts to save the plan, an open letter is being arranged for publication in the Times on Friday, the newspaper reported.
The letter said, in part, Gov. Cuomo "will take personal responsibility for the project’s state approval, and Mayor de Blasio will work together with the governor to manage the community development process."
At least 25,000 jobs would have been created by the Amazon move and Cuomo says that the state is losing $27 billion in tax revenue over the next 10 years.
Way to go, AOC.

If amazon is stupid enough to return to NY, theyll deserve what they get ( or more accurately, theyll deserve what all theyll lose ...)
Face it Amazon liberals hate you and want nothing to do with you
Clearly, AOC has a better grasp of economics and understanding of what “her” pipples need.
What part can he not get, now that she is boss????
Eventually Cuomo will be gone and some elected official(s) in New York State or City will say to Amazon This is ours now.
So, what I want to know is AOC going to “run radical candidates” against Gov. Homo and Komrade DeBlabbio? I thought CA politics was loony, but it’s sane by comparison to NY. I mean we’re working to do stuff like “sequestering cattle farts,” but not actively trying run a specific big business out of town. Small businesses, however are leaving nonetheless.
My money is on Amazon reconsidering. AOC is a hero to Bezos and the rest of the left wing a-holes. This thing made her look like an idiot. You know they would love to do a face saving move.
Maybe he can offer them the Tappan (Mario Cuomo) Zee Bridge that was/is 100% above budget as an incentive.
The Radical Dems who drove them away view that as a big victory. If Son of Mario the Pious delivers defeat from their jaws of victory there is gonna be HELL to pay!
Can’t pop the popcorn fast enough.
I have a suspicion that Amazon was never going to NYC in the first place. They originally announced a search for a new "HQ2" location, then surprised everyone when they announced that they'd selected TWO locations.
They know that. The only people who vote Rat are those with a trust fund, those getting a government check, perverts and wetbacks.
Oh,and the dead!
NYC would be Great for Amazon and for 25,000 people who REALLY want to work there.
You guys don’t LIVE in NYC and probably know jack #### bout it but think you know it like the back of your hand.
You don’t know anything.
AOC and her minions are idiots.
And there are many.
There also are many that REALLY want Amazon in LIC.
I could look at Alabama knowing nothing about it and say on its face value...grew a MORONIC LAZY COWARD in Sessions, and when we need the senate the most, send a DEM to replace him!
But that is not Alabama. That is two instances and that’s all.
I pray Amazon does land in NYC
They should move just across the river so ny can see the prosperity out their windows 24/7. HA!
Heard Amazon isn’t falling for it.
You gotta love it when an ultra leftist jerk like Bigmouth Andrew gets a momentary sense of clarity and realizes his liberalism caused him to make a major mistake. Of course he has to go behind the scenes to try and fix as not to arouse his fellow moonbat leftards. Too late Andy. The cats out of the bag. Are you gonna be MAN enough to stand up to AOC?
Probably why they just canceled on their Seattle expansion too — they found how much the municipality will sweeten the already gooey pot if they threaten to walk away.
I've read quite a few articles about the Amazon debacle, and the ones that I've found most interesting are those that I've seen in engineering and urban planning publications. They tend to be detached and objective about the financial details of the deal, but they offer a perspective that hasn't gotten a lot of attention.
In general, this is the point they make:
1. In most parts of the U.S., a corporate relocation that brings 25,000 new jobs to a region would be seen as an enormous economic boost. The people and their government representatives would bend over backwards to make a deal for this move.
2. However, there are a few places in the U.S. -- and they list New York City, Seattle, and most big California cities among them -- this sort of thing is actually seen as highly disruptive by many residents. By far, the biggest concern is among locals who realize that this type of project will radically transform their neighborhood and basically make it unaffordable to live there anymore.
Dems like Cuomo who won’t get with the AOC Socialist Program are gonna become the next targets of Antifa.
Welcome to the world you helped create, Governor.
Dems get what they asked for and dont like it either.
I suspected from the beginning that Amazon will still locate in NY, but the deal will be substantially FURTHER sweetened by the state.
