Does Amazon still sell gun accessories ?

Because Amazon is probably fully aware that if they moved to NY it would be about a year after setting up that the state would come in and start telling it what they can and can’t sell.

Who would open a business in such an environment ? Where the laws don’t apply, and there isn’t a rule of law in place ?

Amazon would be crazy to land in nyc with the communist politicians there. Crazy. Despite incentives, they’d be taxed and harassed to death. If ny could clean up its horrid politics , then yes amazon

The price should include taking AOC out on a boat ride and coming back without her.

The big problem for Amazon is that Cuomo couldn’t control the lower level troops. The real deal wasn’t the negotiated deal. After the high level agreement, Amazon was supposed to figure out how to bribe the city-level powers— DeBlasio, the unions, the activists—on its own.

What’s ironic about this is that Bezos is very capitalist in his operation of Amazon, while liberal at the levels of policy dealt with in the WaPo and NY Times. That’s ultimately a conflict on the ground.

I don’t see how Cuomo can guarantee an overall deal given the structure of NYC politics. Moreover, there’s a lot of face to be saved, and I don’t see Cuomo bending over enough.

The whole idea of Amazon setting up a headquarters in NYC smells like virtue signalling, because it’s hard to believe it makes financial sense. I won’t be surprised if Amazon winds up there in the end.

San Francisco’s treatment of the tech companies and their employees should be a lesson for companies to never do business in liberal havens.

California politics is just the same as New York (just a little different accent). But what can happen is if they take a page out of Washington State’s handling of Boeing for many years. For about forty years they suspended sales taxes on the sales of their aircraft, assited them with transportation to the factories, and cut property taxes for them. When the state couldn’t afford to do that any more, Boeing bailed so fast they sucked a lot of the oxygen out when they left so fast.

As little as three years ago the state was supporting an $8.7 billion tax break a year to Boeing. And that’s a huge chunk when you consider it would be a large one at fed level. It is reported that, in the heyday, about half of the employees that worked for Boeing were working in Washington state. Thousands of job have bailed with the company, the last ones were 18K going to Arizona last year and another 4000 that live in the northern city of Everett alone, within the next few months. Lot of lost revenue. And because the state never got the money from the breaks, loses can’t be protected as the company is taking the taxable profits they agreed to elsewhere.

Oh yes I agree. I’m sure the big donors and others who bankroll Bigmouth Andrew made things very “clear” to him!

Amazon’s $3 billion tax incentive package is probably going to have to be $10 billion before they even return Cuomo’s phone calls.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You nailed it. Amazon is just trying to squeeze every last dime of incentives and tax breaks from New York that they can.
I have a suspicion that Amazon was never going to NYC in the first place.
Stalking Horse. Very likely.
I know tons of people that don’t get a paycheck from the govt that vote Democrat. I think you underestimate the appeal of the democrat party. That’s why the republicans lost the House in 2018.
The old man brings Little Johnny into school on the first day.
He tells the teacher Little Johnny pretty sharp and if he gets out of line, smack the kid next to him.
Little Johnny will take the hint.
Amazon could save a fortune by not having to provide in house child care services or have employees who are distracted by having children. Cuomo could provide at state taxpayer expense a planned parenthood abortion center right on site.
Probably why they just canceled on their Seattle expansion too — they found how much the municipality will sweeten the already gooey pot if they threaten to walk away.
Here in Seattle Amazon canceled expansion in Seattle proper but is purportedly moving 10 to 20,000 existing jobs to Bellevue which is across the lake and about ten miles east of Seattle. Bellevue is a more business-friendly city and moving the jobs will alleviate the Amazon traffic from the east side neighborhoods into Seattle. The east side has housing that is better for those workers raising families and not wanting to live in the downtown Seattle beehive housing.
Amazon will occupy the Expedia building in Bellevue. Expedia is moving its operations into a slightly north location in Seattle.
