On Sunday morning, de Blasio responded in the affirmative when Chuck Todd of NBC News’ “Meet the Press” asked if the tax breaks offered to Amazon weren’t “money you had over here. And it was going over there.”
The Democratic mayor said: “And that $3 billion that would go back in tax incentives was only after we were getting the jobs and getting the revenue.”

“If we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district ourselves, if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that money, if we wanted to,” Ocasio-Cortez said last week after the technology giant announced on Thursday that it had dropped plans to build the new headquarters in America’s largest city amid pressure from politicians and activists.

Can you imagine this token dope’s reaction when people told her they weren’t actually going to write a check to Amazon for $3 billion, and that in fact the money didn’t exist yet? I hope she stays front & center, but I’m sure the Dems have to give her a beat-down now; the representative for the district where Amazon was going to build supported the move, as did the mayor of the city and governor of the state (all Dems). They can’t have these plans upset by ignorant gibsmedats with no clue as to how business works - and they can’t have the governor broadcasting “New York is open for business” while these radicals shout back, “No it isn’t!”.
She apparently though the city was writing Amazon a check for $3 billion - and she has other plans for that non-existent money.
Cortez’ comment is exactly the same as the old “ditzy housewife” joke about how “I saved so much buying this necklace that I bought a bracelet to go with it."
It’s rich that Commie Bill De Blasio has to explain to Commie AOC that these were tax expenditures, by foregoing tax on income that might be earned, not expenditures of money the State had already taxed. And, further that even if Amazon were to earn this projected income, it would do so by generating many jobs whose earnings would be taxed and that such revenue would accrue to the State.

And they want us to believe that Eeyore (AOC) has a degree in economics? Makes you want to send your kid to Boston College doesn’t it.
Let’s see, just how much tax revenue - at New York state and local levels - might 25,000 jobs at an average of $150,000 per year generate in a single year?
Four years of college, and a degree related to Int’l Relations and Economics...with you just wondering if she attended any classes or passed any tests.
She appears programmed to act and perform only in accordance with the agenda of her puppet masters.
This imbroglio about the tax breaks representing actual cash outflow will be an acid test re: the question of whether or not she is a real living breathing human being...or just an automaton/clone.
Her behavior leading up to this error on her part has shown no evidence that she has a capacity for remorse or admission of guilt.

The NYC-area news quashed this whole story very quickly - after running it as a top headline for months. Internal polling must have told them this was bad for the Dems and for Eeyore in particular - and they need her out there as the Pied Piper of stupid young unassimilated ethnics.
After interviewing residents and business owners the night of the decision (Valentine’s Day) - and most people, including opponents who must have thought Amazon was just going to “get right” and pay, were really downcast by the announcement - the story just disappeared altogether.
My God, she is breathtakingly stupid. "...put a lot of people to work for that money..." WAS EXACTLY WHAT THE AMAZON DEAL WAS GOING TO DO YOU DUMB TWIT!
As others have pointed out, but I would like to reiterate for the liberal lurkers here who need it explained repeatedly and simply... That 3 billion is not money NY has to spend. It represented taxes NY could have collected from Amazon, but agreed not to as an incentive to get Amazon to come there. Note, NY would have gotten increased tax revenue from the deal anyway. All those Amazon employees would be paying taxes, buying goods and services, etc. But that 3 billion is not money NY has sitting in an account that they were going to give to Amazon, it is simply money NY agreed to let Amazon keep.
Well, now Amazon is going to keep that 3 billion anyway, and NY doesn't have anything to show for it other than egg on its face. These are the kinds of "victories" socialists celebrate on their spiral down to Venezuela level misery.
So AOC graduated "...cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics..." SMH... If I was Boston University I'd consider paying her good money to stop saying she graduated from there. If I were a prospective student of Boston U....looking at AOC as an example of the "education" I might get, I would immediately scratch Boston U. off the list of possibilities. This woman is dumber than Coyote on the old Roadrunner cartoons - and she graduated "with distinction" from Boston U.? They obviously don't set the bar too high. Apparently successfully tying your shoes without assistance is about the level of achievement they must look for.
