Twitter is smoking hot tonight about this. A lot of reaction from former employees and also competitors like 343 Industries (the Halo producers) advertising that they'll consider bringing them aboard.

Apparently most of the positions being RIF'd are non-developers - and Blizzard is saying they will be hiring more developers.
There's a hint there for young people trying to decide on a college major.

I don’t know enough about this situation to comment, but you can do a lot of harm to your organization by killing off your talent base.
Looks like other entities may benefit from this.
Evidently they seem to think so.

Activision Blizzard?
I knew they would eventually come out with a sequel for Frostbite

This is a sign that many game players just got jobs and no longer have time to play video games. Winning.

if they fired everyone responsible for Diablo III that would be fine.

Call of Duty was a great game when Infinity Ward was running the show.
Big, big money involved. Can Videogamers, left, right, center or apolitical get organized enough to “punish” Activision Blizzard for being shameless, soulless capitalists, or for that matter, reward them for it?
I guess it’s just a Pitfall that Activision Blizzard will have to avoid.

I can tell you exactly what happened.
PUBG, Fortnite, and now Apex Legends are murdering Overwatch. Overwatch is a 2016 game, and it won’t make them money in 2019, and they have little else to run on now.

Given the game industry has given a greenlight to porn actresses to take over game reviews and SJWs to take over scenarios with gay trandgender heros, I am not surprised
Yet another victim of the communist liberalism , one industry that had never any reason to hurt

Digital Extremes said the same. They develop Warframe, which I’ve been playing for years. They’re a great company that really cares about their fans.
Also, the game is free. So is new content. They’re also working on a huge update to introduce ship-to-ship combat in space. Did I mention it’s free to play?

AND Activision/Blizzard is a very desirable 'take over' target as well.
who'll win that bidding war?
Microsoft? Sony Interactive? Apple? Amazon?

Quick, somebody hire ALL of those guys.
They will make a billion dollar hit game, just to prove Activision was wrong to fire them!
You could literally buy a billion bucks for a couple million in wages....
Ohhh if I had the dough!
To: Ciaphas Cain
They also hired a new CFO and gave him a $15 million bonus for doing nothing but breathing.
Sounds like they have skewed priorities in Activision/Blizzard.
(Of course they do. Just look at the sjw bs in their games recently.)

I’ve been playing WoW since 2007.
Gave notice last week that I won’t be renewing. Expires in a little less than 3 months.
The game has become dull. There are other games I find more interesting and challenging.
I would hang around and visit occasionally if it were free to play. I’d even buy the expansions as well.
But for the close to $60 CDN every 3 months I pay, I could be buying 3-4 Triple-A games a year.
