A city lawmaker in New York is refusing to apologize for saying that the city government is controlled by the homosexual community.
Bronx city council member Ruben Diaz Sr., described as a conservative Democrat, made the comment while speaking on the Spanish-language radio program, El Desahogo," last week, according to The New York Daily News.
City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, who is gay, and others called for Diaz to apologize over the comment. The disgraceful and homophobic comments made by Ruben Diaz Sr. dont reflect this citys values, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) tweeted on Saturday. The council member owes an apology to @NYCSpeakerCoJo and 8.6 million New Yorkers.
Oh dear.
So if it is the truth, how is it homophobic to say that homosexuals are in charge? Assuming it’s a true statement, and homosexuals have major positions of power?
The gay community that controls the city has forced me to apologize...
NYC Ping.
I did not hear read his comments. Perhaps I should. But if he said the council is controlled by the gay community in his city, how is that any kind of a slur?
Why wouldn’t the ‘homosexual community’ be proud of it? Another color on their flag.
Sounds like hispanic hate speech to me.
Amazing how they don’t see the irony:
City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, who is gay, and others called for Diaz to apologize over the comment. The disgraceful and homophobic comments made by Ruben Diaz Sr. dont reflect this citys values.”
I was wondering about that too.
Might be a gay thing.
Ever get the idea just about everyone is sick and tired of the special groups, including members of their own?
I know homosexuals who literally hate how they are being depicted/represented in the worst ways by the vocal activists.
We may see more of this. It’s about time... no it’s way past time.
Maybe I will call his office and Monday and ask him. Or better yet, ask one of the council members that are saying it was a bad thing to say. Think I will.
Most of them are quiet people who don’t want to take center stage at all. I agree with your thoughts there, but I do see a big difference.
We’re talking terrorists vs people who feel maligned.
It’s not homophobic at all; especially if it’s true.
The gay guy is chicanophobic.
When I read the description of the councilman as being a ‘conservative Democrat’ it caused me some confusion. A ‘conservative Democrat’ makes as much sense a a ‘pregnant virgin’. (Of course, there was that ONE miraculous exception two thousand years ago!) I guess that there COULD be a ‘conservative Democrat’, though I believe that would be VERY rare!
Then they have to call out these people, just like "peaceful" Muslims should call out the jihadists.
I guess being in the "dominant culture" means being able to criticize your own culture without any fear of retaliation from other members of your culture.
I think Mayor Koch was a conservative Democrat.
Yes! I would like to apologize for my previous comments. The homos DO NOT control our truly independent city council. I’m sorry. I take it all back.
