Quite honestly, although I have watched many, many SOTU speeches over the years, I had never noticed the inkstand until this SOTU. I guess it’s because I don’t usually pay much attention to the SoTH.

That’s okay, because Pence attracted that sort of attention when Chuck and Nancy met with Trump in the White House, weeks ago. He looked completely uncomfortable and kept his suit jacket buttoned up.

Pence may be a nice man, but he can’t handle Democrats.

It's the morning after and I just scrolled through the whole of this thread.
I was so proud and impressed last night. The speech was masterfully written and delivered. As some of us Freepers speculated he may declare a national emergency he instead took the high road. The highest road.
It was inspiring and showed the whole world how petty and small the democrats are. Trump hit every note and hit it in an outstanding way. I've never seen guests so carefully chosen and woven into the speech. I suspect even Ronald Reagan was very proud of Donald Trump after that speech.
I am grateful to have voted for Reagan twice and was inspired during his presidency. This far surpassed that. Plus it showed the rest of the country what the Dems are. The shots of Romney and Warren were priceless. They both had the same look. Warren will give up - she looked defeated. And Romney looked like he realizes even after Trumps second term he will not have a shot. Bernie looked like he was thinking- how can I compete with this? It was a great night for our country.

I disagree.

We have plenty of FReepers who have said they are “done” with Trump after he caved on the government shutdown to have this three weeks to negotiate and position.

These FReepers are livid, and insane.

Agree, a great speech. The Koran war remark has been stated before when speaking. Felt it to be stretching the truth a bit too far, but as he is much more involved than I, giving him the benefit of the doubt. We've been at war with Korea before- the statement is not far out.

The reunion of camp prisoner and US Military Hero: when this was seen, there must have been no dry eyes in the room. There certainly wasn't here.

His words were so uplifting one could not help but be filled with pride. How many times have we heard USA USA on the floor of congress shouted with such enthusiasm?

There is no doubt whatsoever that we will at last see our WALL. This man has set out a plan and as he moves along he is adjusting, reformulating, and revising. IF not a POTUS, he might have been an excellent General. A favorite quote from our VSG-POTUS:

"Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war. Don't ever get down on yourself, just keep fighting - in the end, you WIN!"

Trump gives us HOPE and he restores our Faith in the Almighty. There IS a GOD and He continues to watch over His Flock. Those who prayed for this nation recognize the fact. MAGA and continue to grow our Faith!

On another note: I the only one that noticed a very brief camera shot in which the president turned his head to the rear of the podium and looked high up? Have not seen anyone else mention this.
