By now you have all seen the images and read about the controversy surrounding the encounter at a rally in Washington, D.C. involving some high school students and a Native American Nathan Phillips.
Nathan is a tribal elder and has often been put forth as a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran.
We have filed for his military records but the point of this article is that there are stories all over the place about what Phillips status is and to do this right takes time.
But in the medias rush to get a story out what facts rise to the surface and what did Phillips actually say about his military service?
As a good example, in this CNN newscast, Phillips states that he is a Vietnam Times Veteran while CNN runs the label below him quoting him as saying I am a Vietnam Veteran
which is not what he said.

He probably gamed it through with CNN. This way they both have plausible deniability.

Could be, he seems squirrely with his words. That’s why I thought it would be interesting for FR peeps to look it what is known and see what they can suss out from it.
A vietnam era veteran is a Vietnam vet. Legally. Just like Obama is legally blonde.
Maybe he’s 1/1024 a veteran.
:D
I guarantee you, a month from now we’ll discover he’s as Indian as Fauxcahontas.
My thread on this and some great FR responses.

Not to split hairs but I was always told that a Vietnam era veteran was in that period from 1973 ( after we left ) to 1977 ( Draft and GI bill ended ) as to differentiate them from Vietnam veterans who were in country.
We’ll probably learn that he was drummed out four weeks into boot-camp.
Thanks!
I think Phillips is FOS. I didn’t see him going around wanting to slap the “SMIRKS” off of little Davy Hoggy and his pals who were all over the place trying to have the Bill of Rights taken away from the American people. Phillips is a fraud and a jackass. All Tom Tom and coup sticks and no ponies.
You sure he isn’t another Ward Churchill?
Chief dances with antifa is a fraud.
I realize that the Vietnam Era is defined as being from 1961 to 1975 but I’ve known plenty of Vietnam vets and not a one ever called themselves a Vietnam Era vet.
Phillips joined the Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War as a ‘Recon Ranger’ and Infantryman.[8][9][10][11][12][13] This is contentious claim, since the last combat troops left Vietnam in 1971, while Nathan served in the U.S. military from 1972 to 1976

In this video - from when he claimed a similar experience - he says he served from “72-76” - I’ve cued the video to that point:

“Well probably learn that he was drummed out four weeks into boot-camp.”

Something like that, I expect - if he served at all. I’m guessing he’s embellished a lot.
TigerClaws posted up above the link to his thread. Thanks anyways!
