- 14 miles of secondary wall in San Diego. Construction will start fter the first layer of secondary wall (nearing completion) is done.

- 15 miles of thirty foot primary barrier: Eleven miles in Calexico, Three miles in Tecate, One mile in Andrade. Construction for that $156 million of the project is slated to begin in July 2019.

Looks like this award is running about $10 million per mile. These locations will likely (almost certainly) be loaded with lights, cameras and alarms.

3 miles in Tecate,,
It is a start.
30 miles East of Tecate is Campo
and it is some desolate terrain.
Made just for Smuggling.

A Texas company. Good. Kalifornia threatened their own contractors if they took a contract for the wall.

It's not President Trump's border wall.

It's OUR border wall. President Trump works for us; one of the reasons we hired him is to build it.

"East of Tecate is Campo and it is some desolate terrain."

Technology can be more cost effective in rural areas, and can be deployed more quickly:

“A Texas company. Good.”

SLSCO - they have been competing the pants off the other vendors, and cleaning up on the contract awards.

What is damning is that Raytheon built a terrorist and refugee proof border wall around Yemen for Saudi Arabia about a decade ago ... and refuses to bid on the current US border wall project, considering it racist.

In that light, their 2005-2006 timeframe project of building the open sensor pylon wall means they’ve either:
A. done an about face on their own country’s security
B. they know such open monitored borders don’t work worth a damn and that’s why they built it.

When Raytheon built a fence around Yemen for Saudi Arabia, it was several million a mile.

Ditto the EADS project for the Saudis on the Iraqi border.

Raytheon probably has to tread lightly around politically sensitive projects. They depend on the the good graces of the politicians in power for most of their business.

The Board of Directors would smack down any corporate officer who pissed off one of the major political parties.

The border wall is the most politically radioactive project in a long time.

The problem is that the next RAT President will just order it switched off and we will be back to where ewe are today.

Now, I do think that DJT should immediately order lethal force to defend the border, including robotic means. BUT he should also build a physical wall that no future politician will tear down by executive order.

I think they will do Tecate the way they did Calexico.

First, they will do one side of the Port of Entry out to the end of town, then they will come back later with a new contract award for the other side of town.

Both towns look to be getting the thirty foot bollards.

The West side of Calexico was the first segment done under President Trump. The East side was recently awarded. Work starts in a few months.

Yuma recently got a pretty big award (something like 20-25 miles), but I’m not sure how big that stuff will be.

2019 is going see more barrier being built, and the benefits of the first round starting to show.

If the President pulls off what he was talking about today (500 - 550 total miles before the election), he will have done great work indeed.

Plus, it may be that our southern wall isn't profitable enough for them. I would imagine there is far more competition building one here at home, and there are fewer costs they can mark up.

I have ridden horseback west of El Paso along the Mexican border. You don’t know what remote is until you are out there.

It isn’t ‘rural’ -— it is REMOTE.

Don't they supply a lot of the electronics for US military planes, ships and other equipment?

I'd think this would be a real good way to "piss off" DJT.

I assume Raytheon was Prime contractor and sub contracted all the actual work

“Plus, it may be that our southern wall isn’t profitable enough for them.”

Very true. They (Raytheon) are a high margin business. Bonuses might be tied to return on capital, among other measures.

Remote and Hostile!
I’ve been on a hill overlooking
Tecate and Campo knowing it could
Be hours to get medical help.
