Judge John Bates of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia made the remarks Thursday at a townhall-style event on judicial independence in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center. Though he did not name Trump specifically, his comments left little mystery as to whom he was referring.
“There are a lot of pressures,” Bates said. “The pressures are fairly severe in some quarters. And there’s a risk of eating away at the rule of law, eating away at judicial independence, and that’s not easily recovered if it is impacted.”
“‘Once the independence of judges is destroyed, the Constitution is gone. It is a dead letter. It is a vapor which the breath of faction in a moment may dissipate,'” Bates added, quoting Alexander Hamilton. (RELATED: The Supreme Court’s Assault On The Administrative State Has Begun)

If you are so worried about “independence of the judiciary”, Mr. self-important Judge, then why don’t you go back to hearing cases and shut your mouth about politics?

Hmmm, it appears that activist judges are the threat to the rule of law.
We the proletariat are rapidly losing any respect we once had for folks who’s sole claim to fame is that that they went to a school of law instead of getting a real education. It’s sad when we can pick out a day laborer at random and get opinions more in reason with true justice than we get from someone like a Ginsberg.

I’m sorry, Your Honor, but have you read the constitution? You are not independent in the slightest bit. You are selected by a president, you are confirmed by the senate, and subject to the oversight by the House which can move the Senate to eject you.
There is no judicial independence in the constitution. There was never intended the slightest independence; you are functionaries who are fulfilling a very simple function, dispensing the laws created by the legislature and enforced by the executive.
What is at threat at this time, especially since more and more people are starting to clearly see, is the constant attempts to elevate (and maintain) the judiciary as some sort of super government which can not only dismiss laws at whim, but also can make new ones as they please (if that’s not clear, see SCOTUS creating gay marriage in the US.)
Nothing erodes the rule of law like a Judge making law.
Maybe Bates should cite the non existing laws he is basing his DACA decision on.
That should work because this clown judge doesn’t believe in the Rule of Law.
DACA was an executive order by Obama, if I’m not mistaken. Why does it carry the ultimate weight of unquestioned power, yet Trump’s EOs are basically ignored or shut down entirely? Yes that is a rhetorical question. Can Trump simply reverse Barry’s EO?

Political B.S. and cover for the judicial activism whereby judges think they can write a new constitution, what they call the “living constitution” which totally undermines the only Constitution We the People wrote, through our elected representatives - the WRITTEN Constitution.
And DACA is NOT rule of law, Idiot Judge....
