Much like many brand new commercial aircraft, Boeings 737 Maxs entry-into-service hasnt been the smoothest and the latest incident (in what is a string of 737 Max related events) took place earlier this morning, with a brand new Norwegian Air jet.
Flying from Dubai (DXB) to Oslo (OSL), Norwegian Airs two-month-old Boeing 737 MAX 8 encountered engine trouble, and following around 20 minutes of flying at its cruising altitude of 32,000ft the newly built American jet initiated an emergency descent to Shiraz International Airport, located in south-central Iran.
Before its landing, the aircraft circulated several times over the region, after flight crew closed down Engine #1 due to an engine oil-associated fault on the brand-new jet.

Yeah, that. Working on it. As for passenger comfort best seat in the house is over the wing box.
"Operator error" is always the default industry setting - that's where they start and work out from there.
No question about that, but Welch's management built the foundations upon which Immelt and his team enriched themselves. When it came to managing the workforce, Welch wrote the book on incompetence.
I worked for a competitor, they didn’t play fair and neutron Jacks rack-um’stack-um sent many older males on tranks as they headed into there 50’s always wondering if they were one step away from too old to rehire too you to retire, and then industry adopted it everywhere. I will shed no tears as this crapstorm hits the rotary oscillator. One of the most over rated sob ever Welch is, and there are plenty more for sure...
What a well-written article! Makes for quick reading.
This is an International incident which will require President to give permission to Boeing to send its engineers or parts to Iran. Additionally, anyone who goes to Iran is in jeopardy of not being eligible to enter the US and some of the passengers are ticketed from Dubai to Oslo to NY!
Article is a fast read. Might interest you.

I read it, it’s sensationalist drivel.
It gives the false impression that this is some kind of international incident, it isn’t. Airplanes divert due to technical issues regularly, it’s not a rare event. Yes, it may be the first time a 737 Max has landed in Iran but that’s because the aircraft is so new, not because it’s a boeing. Boeings operate in and out of Iran all the time and airlines perform maintenance on them just like anywhere else. Norwegian’s maintenance department likely has what’s needed in stock already, they just have to fly it down and fix the airplane. The article implies that the passengers can’t leave the airport because the women don’t have head scarves. That’s ridiculous, you can buy a scarf.
The article is poorly written drivel with many stretches of the truth.
Can you source an article which reports the correct facts?
They didn’t call him Neutron Jack for no reason. I know a guy who once worked for GE, who now, if there’s another brand of light bulb on the shelf will buy it over GE, no matter who it is. And only maybe 10% personal feelings toward GE, it’s actually 90% that, having seen the way GE manages things, if someone else makes a light bulb, it HAS to be better.
Last I saw GE was trying to dump the light bulb business but couldn’t find a buyer. Just Googled. Looks like they’ve found a buyer for the division, but the buyer didn’t want the consumer lighting unit. So it’s still available if someone has a few nickles rattling around in their pocket.
And I didn’t just mean light bulbs per se, he actually had nothing to do with light bulbs when he worked for them. This guy would act like with regard to any GE product just because of his opinion of how they work.
