Dick’s Sporting Goods May Close Field & Stream After Gun Control Policy Hurt Business

since siding with those who support gun control, business has gone down at Dick’s Sporting Goods and the company may have to close Field & Stream:

Edward Stack, chairman and CEO of Dick’s, said during the event that the sporting goods chain’s recent 3.9 percent drop in same-store sales was the result of a mix of factors beyond their control as well as some he called “self-imposed.” Specifically, he said, “the decisions we made on firearms” negatively affected their bottom line but the drop in sales was something they expected. They did not, however, regret their decision to change a number of their gun-sales policies and back new gun-control legislation.

If the Field & Stream near me goes belly up I hope BassPro buys the lease and opens one of their stores.

After their announcement of opposition to the Second Amendment I think there was a flurry of snowflakes buying a pair of shoes or T-shirts or such. It quickly dissipated as their enthusiasm is trivial and short lasting.

You don't have to keep coming back to buy ammo, cleaning and target supplies, and other goodies for a t-shirt or pair of shoes.

The real outdoor sporting goods have many expendables and if a store has great, friendly service and decent prices the store will thrive. All the wunderkind MBA types from the "prestigious" colleges have never partaken of true outdoor sports and have no understanding of the concept of the volume of return business for those sports.

A friend who is gone now once told me an ar15 is like a redneck Barbie doll. My wife of 46 years said that was sexist as we headed for the range to shoot one I built. Dress em up like you like them was Rick’s motto. My wife just likes the recoil and the shooting. The building and the banter without the political correctness is what I enjoy. We get out there to the range to cut holes in paper and tip over tin. Meeting the other shooters is enjoyable. Nice way to spend some freedoms time.

Dick’s came into Houston not long ago. About the time Gander Mountain started closing stores. Academy has been here as long as I can remember.

They said it wasn’t going to hurt them.

If fact libtard media ran stories saying it was not hurting them and other sales were making up the losses.

Yeah - rather curious as to why the investigations and legal actions aren't flying. You'd think someone would be making a stink about it.

Weird thing is a Sport Authority went out of business as the store was always empty. It is re-opening after a complete gutting if the store into a Dick’s. Dumbest move ever and I give it less than a year or maybe it will fail before they even open. They squandered this Christmas season as they are not open yet.

Managers who depresicate or destroy the company should be replaced. And since this result was both foreseeable and actually foreseen, the owners/ shareholders should sue these (mis-)managers

Money grabbers do NOTHING to deliberately hurt the bottom line. Something dirty is going on behind the scenes to offset an otherwise irrational business position.

Libs crave power not money, which is merely a tool used to obtain more of it ...

But the loss of real customers is permanent”

Spot on.
