since siding with those who support gun control, business has gone down at Dicks Sporting Goods and the company may have to close Field & Stream:
Edward Stack, chairman and CEO of Dicks, said during the event that the sporting goods chains recent 3.9 percent drop in same-store sales was the result of a mix of factors beyond their control as well as some he called self-imposed. Specifically, he said, the decisions we made on firearms negatively affected their bottom line but the drop in sales was something they expected. They did not, however, regret their decision to change a number of their gun-sales policies and back new gun-control legislation.

It could be that black rifles weren ‘t selling, and Dick’s chose to virtue signal in discontinuing them. The local wal-mart did so, without fanfare, well before the Florida shooting. Building AR type rifles has become a huge part of the market. Dick’s may have been in trouble before all of this.
I saw an Academy commercial about a year ago. You had to look really hard to find a white guy in the commercial.
I took that as they don’t want me there either. So I look elsewhere.
Well the stockholders have got the “Dick” for its management’s irresponsibility and disrespect for its customers ... maybe they’ll vote them out?
I think the same way about such things.
I don’t care what others choose to do, but I will choose whom I do business with. If a company goes too far, then no more.
It’s not about trying to put them out of business, that is beyond my reach. It is simply I set the standards for myself, and they will be adhered to.
Such as the NFL for instance. I’m done. Others can watch or return to watching or going, I don’t care, but I am done.
I’ll do the same. Plus I’ll be able to yell at the store next door,” say Nordstrom, nice Rack!
So these morons claim that they knew and expected their profits to fall as a result of their position on nasty black rifles? And they would do the same thing again if given the chance?
Point 1: Just who the f**k hires morons like this to run their company and protect shareholders’ interests?
Point 2: Didn’t this POS just admit that he intentionally cost Dicks’ shareholders millions? If so, isn’t he personally responsible and accountable for their losses?
Nice. It will be nice to see Nordstrom go down, too.
That shopping center would be a two-fer. There was a Dick’s nearby to the Target.
That Dick’s may already be closed. Haven’t been there for awhile.
The whole area is very hit and miss despite being very busy with automobile traffic.
That is pretty much how I feel. Not everyone allows others to choose their path without vitriol, though...and I don’t agree with that.
I have to drive past a Palmetto State Armory, a Sportsman’s Warehouse and an Academy to get to Dick’s. I see no reason why I should.
In call BS, DSG is losing it bad! Good!
Cater to the people who don’t even shop at your store.
Many people who know guns are around. Midway, Brownells, local shops, Cabelas, on and on. Building black guns and 1911s and others is enjoyable and interesting. Going to the range with a gun you built and ammo you loaded is one of my favorite pastimes. The limit to mods and variants is almost endless. The people you meet and the varying opinions is I think really endless. Dicks just drove off the cliff quicker than they needed too. IMO.
My shadow will never darken their doorstep.
This is one outfit that needs to go belly up badly....the sooner, the better.
And let it be a lesson to the rest of em.
The country isn’t totally made up of little faggy twinks and snowflakes.
LOL and +1 for the name.
Kroger’s made the same virtue signaling decision after the Stoneman Douglas shootings. Locally, that meant that Fred Meyer quit selling guns. No biggie. They’d quit before, and only started again when Obama made selling guns as easy as pie. If they make a profit on them, they’ll make room for them.
The Gander nearest me became a place to avoid. The prices went through the roof, including their firearms. Also, their staff were a bunch of snooty types who looked down on you if you asked a question.
I tried to buy an expensive pair of hunting boots and the employee blew me off and then ignored me. Back around 2009 I purchased a firearm from them. The person that helped me was an older man and was very friendly. I was in and out in under an hour. A few years later I went there to purchase a Mosin Nagant for my son for Christmas. The staff treated me as if I had never touched a firearm and talked down to me. If it wasn't for the sale they had on the rifle I would have left
I was in the store trying to fill out the paperwork for an hour and a half. I filled out the federal form, the Virginia form, and then had to wait while the incompetent employee had to put all that information into a computer program that Gander had made up. Then I had to wait for over 20 minutes for a store manager to arrive to double check the info in that program. My wife was with me and she was not amused.
I left with the Mosin but told them that I would just go down the street a mile to my favorite gun store to get anything more I needed as when I go there I can get my paperwork done and the background check finished in about 20 minutes or less.
Gander cut their own throats.
