Rush is rightly disgusted at today's Mueller's news. SO disgusted in fact that after a caller prompted him he agreed that the word "conservative" is so useless and damaged that a "rebranding" might be a good idea.
I couldn't agree more.
Yes!
Haven’t heard his reasoning yet. I’ve never identified as Conservative. I just say “The Rep Party left me.”
Well, in the Land Down Under, the terms ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’ are reversed from what we use..................
Rush spent the first half hour of his show mistakenly saying the Cohen plea was about the Trump Tower meeting. Embarrassing and what are we going to “rebrand” to? Progressive is taken. Traditional? What will we rename the republican party? If you’re not a Democrat it doesn’t matter what you call yourself.
He discussed it yesterday, Wednesday, with a female caller. Interesting, I thought.
Like the Democrat party is now called the Democratic party which is anything but.
His suggestion...”problem solvers”.
It's happening.
Both labels, “Conservative,” and “Liberal” no longer have any useful meaning content.
I’d agree in my own case to go by “Real American.”
For the “other” side, I’d suggest Emotion-Driven, Illogical, unicorn-worshiping, bat-Krappe krazy lunatics.
That’s got a nice lilt to it.
“A normal person.”
The media has changed the meaning of conservative to something to be hated and scorned. Calling ourselves normal forces the left to admit that they hate normalcy.
The topic is on the table for debate, so have at it. What can’t be denied, for me at least, is that the word conservative is seriously damaged. That’s his point, and given that people like Paul Ryan, Bill Kristol, Jeff Flake and John McCain all considered themselves conservatives, the word is indeed damaged.
Agree.
I am self identified (accurately I believe) as a “conservative. I believe it to be a good, correct and fairly descriptive of my political attitudes toward government, constitutional interpretation and moral/ethical values.
The problem is not the designation but, rather, it’s overuse and misapplication to people or situations inaccurately.
The media is famous for labeling someone as “conservative” when their historical beliefs/behavior are anything but.
Conservative describes MY political attitudes better than “right” and certainly more accurately then “Republican”.
Then, D-Bags like Flake will also taint the new term, so we can flee to another New Term...and another as we retreat with each damaging of a term.
Bingo.
Today's political parties have no room for a misfit like me. :)
We can rebrand to the “Normal” party, with all others “Abnormal.”
When people ask me my political persuasion/leanings during discussions, I always say: “Ask me about a topic and I’ll tell you perspective and beliefs on it.”
Neither word probably exemplifies what they should mean. The word “liberal” has moved away from what it used to mean. The word “Progressive” to describe a liberal completely misses the mark; that word should be “Regressive”. Not sure what a Republican should be called if the name “conservative” doesn’t apply.
