If the shut downs due to migrants interfere enough with the other businesses there will be a lot of pressure in Mexico to solve the problem.
NO SYMPATHY - Mexico allowed them into their country AND offered them asylum.

The article at link says it was a TEN MINUTE “readiness exercise” — that is far from “shut down” as stated in your fictional headline.

Last I checked, MS13 doesn’t have heavy artillery or an air force.
Take em down.

The press can blow me.
The President has vast powers and all they can do is watch and cry.
Until the next D president is elected :(
Hopefully not for a VERY VERY long time and the wall is up by then.
But then, walls can always be taken down.
We will NEVER get to rest until we are in dirt.
That’s ok.
It’s life.

the residual concern i have is what about security for american citizens crossing back into the us and becoming trapped by violent rioting caravan mobs while waiting in the queue..
I’m not particularly concerned about that. Assumption of the risk. Some folks like to run with the bulls in Pamplona. I’m not particularly concerned when the bulls win, either.

It’s not always a matter of what people “like”, and it’s rarely for the excitement of danger. On the border town where I spent many years there are hundreds, probably thousands of Mexicans who cross the border every day to go to work legally in the US. Also, quite a number of US citizen live on the Mexican side and commute to their business or job. Many business people, my daughter that I mentioned in another post is an example, depend to one degree or another on the border being open to legal crossing when needed. It’s just a way of life on both sides, and when that is interrupted it causes some serious consternation for a lot of people, not just Mexicans. And, yes, they do assume the risks every day, just as you assume the risk of getting out of bed in the morning. And most think about it just about as much.

Probably 85% of the lobster I had in mexico was spoiled, sat to long on the boat or in the fish market without ice.
You could smell the stink of rot before it even got to the table.
Seafood is not a good enough excuse, neither is a job.
You GRINGOS get stuck down there during civil unrest, your F#CKED.
And I don’t want to hear any of them cry about their lack of common sense.

lobster village
Took my 97 year-old mom to Puerto Nuevo for her birthday. She loved it. We had gone many times before. The prices were higher, but the lobster, tortillas and refried beans were as good as ever. She thought the world of Mexico and the Mexican people. In fact, she made a point of getting a passport card so she could continue to keep going back, but she never did.

I always went from the same guys from work after we all retired. they would drink their way down the coast starting at the marriott with the golf course. and I would drive. Two of the guys grew up in mexico. They would go in the restaurant with the barkers and say, show me which ones you will cook for us. never had a bad meal.
