House Republicans who have spent the last two years arguing that there was bias in President Barack Obama’s Justice Department are preparing to subpoena two key witnesses in the final weeks of their majority — former FBI Director James Comey and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert Goodlatte, R-Va., has notified colleagues that he will subpoena Comey for a closed-door deposition Nov. 29 and Lynch for Dec. 5, according to a person familiar with the subpoenas. The person declined to be identified because the person was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
The subpoenas are part of an investigation by two GOP-led committees into decisions made by the department during the 2016 election, when Democrat Hillary Clinton was cleared in a probe into her email use and Justice officials launched an investigation into Trump’s campaign and Russia. Both Comey and Lynch were in power during that time.
Republicans on the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform panels have argued that Justice officials were conspiring against Trump’s election, and they have interviewed multiple current and former Justice officials behind closed doors in an effort to prove their case.
It’s unclear if Comey and Lynch will appear, or if Republicans would be able to enforce the subpoenas, since they lose the House majority in January. Goodlatte and the chairman of the Oversight panel, Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, are both retiring. …

I have no doubt Comey and Lynch will be able to run the clock out and never testify.
They got to try to get them on the record and under oath. I’ve been repeating this statement on every thread on the topic, Trump has to turn the tables on this. IMO he has no choice now but to appoint a second Special Prosecutor to investigate the other 2016 candidates and those who assisted them for the exact same things he and his entourage are being investigated for.
The evidence is overwhelming that there was a conspiracy to rig the election, to work with foreign governments, to pay for information from Russians and other governments, and that the conspiracy involved our own intelligence services as well as reaching right into the Obama Oval Office - Susan Rice’s Jan 20 email confirms they were talking about these issues inside the Oval Office; and they were unmasking phone records at an alarming rate (imo hoping to find evidence to use against Trump). The thing is, almost all the evidence points to the other candidate(s).
They sold this investigation as necessary to end outside interference in the elections. So why only target one candidate? Time to break it wide open and investigate all of them.
Like usual, the GOP-e is a decade late and a trillion dollars short. They had the Senate, House, and Presidency for 2 years, and SQUANDERED it.

In addition it seems clear to me that Papadoupolis was set-up, and likely Carter Page and DJTjr with the same M.O. They sent one operative to plant them with information such as “the Russians have dirt on Hillary”, then sending another operative to try to solicit this information from the marks and report on it back to the FBI. This same M.O. was used on at least those 3 men, probably more.
It appears the attempted Obama/Hillary coup and its associated crimes will go unpunished.
I await Victor Davis Hanson or some other Classicist to put this all in perspective. At best, we exist in the shell of a republic; its innards, its organs are gone.
If they refuse it allows Trump’s people to respond in kind when the Dem House tries to subpoena them for their show trials...
It was replaced with a “democracy” in 1913 when two particular amendments to the Constitution got “passed”.
