Not everyone believes Elvis is the king.
President Trump will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to seven Americans on Friday, including the late rock star Elvis Presley, though even that gesture is coming under fire from liberals.
Trump is honoring Presley, baseball legend Babe Ruth, former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, philanthropist Miriam Adelson, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, jurist Alan Page, and Hall-of-Fame quarterback Roger Staubach.
Still, some have accused Trump of racism for honoring Presley, long known as the "King of Rock and Roll."
The Washington Post’s pop culture critic Chris Richards called Trump’s move “a little nod to the good old days, back when black visionaries could invent rock-and-roll, but only a white man could become the king.”
“Yes, Trump is sending a message here,” Richards wrote That claim has been scoffed at online, with the Weekly Standard publishing a rebuttal titled, “Elvis Wasn’t Racist. Neither Is Giving Him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.”
“If you’re invested in making Elvis an avatar for racial resentments more than 40 years after his death, you’re, perhaps unwittingly, making the problems of contemporary divisions worse,” columnist Mark Hemingway wrote. “Music is one of a precious few cultural forces still holding us together.”
Liberals have also protested Trump’s award for Adelson, the wife of GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson. The New York Times columnist Paul Krugman called the award to Adelson “ludicrous” and an “insult to people who received the medal for genuine service.” Krugman said she’s “done nothing for her country besides being the wife of a Trump-friendly megadonor.”

Elvis was a talented singer..that is all.

Elvis’ money was managed by his father, who had no more than a 5th grade education. He and Elvis never hired their own accountants to do his taxes. Rather, they had the IRS do the taxes for them. His father was afraid if they had their own accountants to do it, mistakes could be made. If the IRS made mistakes, that was on the IRS and not them. Of course the IRS took advantage of their naivete and didnt give them deductions that they were entitled to.
Yeah I figured it out, but at first I was like what did I do to prompt that response. When I saw it was dickwad’s picture I understood. 8>)

Unbelievable, right? Yet, last night I watched some black guy on Laura Ingrahams' show who said, with a straight face, that it was "cultural appropriation". He also seemed to have a problem with Elvis being recognized because he had been dead for a long time.
Elvis sang "Gospel" music because he was from the South. Contrary to what I was listening to from this young man last night; there are white people who have enjoyed Gospel music for a very long time. Not just Elvis.
I really, really hate it when liberals take todays' sensitivities (or insanities depending on your POV) and put them onto events or people from the past, when none of these taboos (cultural appropriation) were even a part of any conversations.
And black musicians did a hell of a lot of cultural appropriation by using pianos and guitars.

Its ALL politics with these morons. If Barack Obama had given the same award to Elvis the media would be SWOONING over it..but with Trump, everything and I mean EVERYTHING is racist. The left has made a mockery out of racism now..everything is racist..when real racism happens NO ONE will believe it..its just like with the left how everyone they disagree with is a Nazi..they have taken the Holocaust and turned it into a joke

We shouldn’t even be discussing this. Let it die. The left constantly makes stupid claims like this and then gets everybody talking so that it looks like, “Hey, maybe there’s something to this.” It is a way of letting the left control the dialog. Just let it wilt on the vine. Don’t dignify it with a response.
