It is my birthday today, so I get to post the live thread. :)
Some places to watch:
Politico SenateReal Clear Politics
Dow up means less risk of House Financial Services Committee Chairman Maxine Waters.
Happy BirfDay Laz. I just posted one about alyssa meLanno offering rides to............ Oh. Never mind. Thought it was to birfday boyz.
Laz, Happy Happy Birthday!!
This is a fabulous coincidence: your birthday and election day. I think you are a good luck charm!!
Happy, happy, and thanks for starting this thread. :0)
Happy Birthday, Laz.
I really wanted to be here to watch this unfold.
Had a big wind storm last Saturday with widespread power/internet outages
and I was concerned I’d miss it, but an hour ago the power was restored,
the chicken wings are in the oven and I’m ready to go!
I think McSally will win AZ’s open senate seat today. (LS wrote earlier that the GOP could lose the House seat that she currently holds in Tucson, AZ).
Trump won AZ by about 4 percentage points, and that was with a Libertarian candidate draining off about 2 percentage points from Trump’s vote totals. There’s no Libertarian in this Senate race, but Sinema is somewhat more popular than Trump’s opponent in 2016. But even allowing for Sinema’s greater popularity, I don’t expect to see a lot of people who voted for Trump or the Libertarian guy voting for Sinema today. So I expect to see McSally win comfortably by 1 to 2 percentage points and possibly much more than that.
Seemed like my polling place was much busier than 2016 I’m on the border of L.A and Ventura county. Tough to know if it was the surge due to people voting before going into work. I believe I voted around the same time last election
Housley’s internals are polling +2. Wardlow wins with 5+. Paulsen will squeak out a win. The biggest questions are Hughes(polling even to +2) and Johnson.
And we hope you get to hit something worth hitting for your birthday!
I spent the last three nights re-watching the 2016 election results (again). I wanted to remind myself who had the best coverage.
For the best district analysis, I would chose MSNBC or ABC. I am no longer a Fox loyalist and look for the best in depth and frequent analysis as the results roll in. CNN was mostly John- Whoever working the big board and discussing it with Wolf. Occasionally there was a panel. So, I won’t try them again. But Van Jones is likely to say something colorful. MSNBC and ABC are very good. Plus you get to see old friends like Serpent Head on MSNBC who declared he was surprised that Ohio was declared so early. ABC had Georgie, who was quite curious and professional, and kept the show rolling with releveant information about demographics. Except for their giddiness for the coronation of Herr Hitlery in the opening segment their very large panels kept adding more news as the new numbers appeared. At the end, Madcow was complaining loosing her abortion rights ( as if) and Anna Navarro feeling righteous about denouncing racist Trump about Fox has the same tired talking heads.
I don’t have cable and I have just checked youtube and MSNBC said they would start streaming the election results in a half an our.
For melt downs, the worst last cycle were the Young Turks ( lots of swearing) and the show that Ben Shapiro was on. He had a fit. Also, don’t watch Glenn Beck’s show, because his discomfiture was obvious.
Good shows are ones that show precinct watch parties. I distinctly remember a young lad in the Midwest hoping to get a job in manufacturing by voting for Trump. God Bless him. I also remember how nobody showed up for hilary’s LA function.
Glad you liked it!
I hadn’t seen it until today, either. Thanks to a fellow FReeper for posting it. Great talent. Should have gotten millions of views in Nov 2016 alone.
Left my drivers license at work so I brought my passport, a recently expired DMV temporary paper photo copy of drivers license, my auto registration and a utility bill with me as ID.
They made me cast a provisional ballot

Wow, what state are you in?! You’re actually lucky. I’m in California where some illegals are automatically registered to vote. This state is insane when it comes to voter eligibility. They want anyone who breathes to vote — and sometimes even those who don’t!
Montana exit poll shows Rosendale up by 3%.
Well - not sure if it is a hard predictor but my $20 investment on Predictit across a number of different mid-term bets is slowly starting to grow. I was “down” 7% when I got up this morning and now I’m “up” by 3%.
I think I’ll double my money easily by the end of the evening. :)
and a Republican GA Governor. “”
Also a Florida Republican Governor.
And a Nevada Republican Governor.
Also- Since we all need a wish list-—A CALIFORNIA Republican Governor !!!!!!!!!
Beau and I live in a teeny-tiny farming Township of 380 people. We were Voters 83 & 84, and then we went out for Pancakes! :)
When I voted in 2016 I voted in the morning (he voted after work) and I was voter #37, and that was at the same time of day, so I’m HOPING that voting is UP by a YUGE margin. We had to wait for 4 people in front of us; that’s never happened before to either of us and he’s voted there for 40 years.
There have been an equal amount of yard & road signs for each side. During 2016, there were more GOP than DEM.
I have NO idea how today is going to go, other than those of us in Rural, Aging populated areas ARE getting out to vote, which supposedly leans Right. And it is a chilly, windy, rainy day, too.
I’m seriously as excited for the results tonight as I was in 2016. How much more WINNING can I take? LOL! MAGA! :)
I have not gone to the media sites today. I suspect silence? They are not sure what is coming? I am not sur either but I have a suspicion.
Good news?
Thousands of single-issue potheads...errr...voters who will only vote on 18-02.
Double advantage: Stoners get to smoke pot and not vote in the coming elections because...muh, we gotz smoke, bruh!
What a coincidence. I early voted Friday across the street from Mount Bethel (Methodist Church and Christian Academy), at the Cobb County Government Services Center in Marietta GA.
Small rural valley in N Nevada:
Had to give the lady my ID & she processed it thru a machine, and I also had to sign to ‘match the signature’. Fine with me. Even tho 2 of the 3 ladies there personally knew me.
One deputy sheriff there in parking lot about 9:30 AM.
Lines were all down the 40 ++ foot long alcove, and then wrapped around the other side of the same alcove. About 15 minutes to make it to the check in ladies. 8 machines running.
