(Sen) Sasse (R-NE): I encouraged Trump to pick someone other than Kavanaugh
The Hill ^ | October 3, 2018 | Jordain Carney

GOP Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) said Wednesday night that he urged President Trump to nominate someone other than Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court earlier this year.

"Although I've said many complimentary things about Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his distinguished record … I will say that I urged the president back in June and early July to make a different choice before he announced this nomination," Sasse said during an emotional speech from the Senate floor centering on sexual assault.

If you all were watching when the testimony ended last week, Sasse was the one who left his seat and went down to enemy territory...he took a seat and remained there talking to someone for the longest time and I couldn’t see who he was talking to. His back was to the camera but the camera stayed on him for most of the time. This happened BEFORE anyone started to leave the hearing room. When the first person left from the Republican side, he glanced up and watched that person walk out the door but he remained seated and continued talking. He was the first one I saw make a move of any kind...Most of the demons weren’t in their seats at the time. They apparently had walked out when I was away from the TV. There may be a video of that but it sure looked strange at the time. The two of them (Sasse and whoever) were deep in conversation down there at that end of the table for a long time. Even if I hadn’t seen him walk down there and sit down, I would have known it was him by his strange haircut....

What an effin worm.

Because of the #metoo movement, Sasse believes only women can be nominated.

He doesn't think the GOP members of Senate have the guts to defend a well-qualified man.

Sasse is right up there with Flake in terms of the lack of courage and backbone.

Ben Sasse is a Never Trumper - Mitt Romney fanboy. There are so many great Mormons that is frustrating that some of them lead the way in hostility to President Trump in a manner that goes beyond rational, arguably conservative opposition. This clown will be out of the Senate soon and I suppose playing at running for a President, which apparently is an ambition of his, as laughable as it is for him to think he could ever win the nomination.

Sasse, and those like him are scum, and I'm optimistic that even a Kavanaugh defeat will be a victory for DJT as both the GOPe and the socialists are being exposed like never before.

Hit the phones for the Republicans folks (as much as I detest my local hacks) - they remain our best shot to save our nation.

So, is he saying he’d heard about allegations of Kavanaugh before Trump picked him?

Maybe Ben would be happy if he’d appointed Merrick Garland? Then he wouldn’t have to make bad w his friends from the other side of the aisle. He’d just piss off his constituents(which is probably not that bid a deal to him).

I think he’s saving her when RBG leaves the court. Can’t wait for that fireworks show. The Dems will have a hard time hiding their anti-Catholicism!

No matter the venue, wherever he goes, Ben sASSe always acts and speaks as if he’s the smartest man in the room. One of the most arrogantly conceited and self-serving pricks I have ever had the misfortune to know.

This guy is a weakling with the ambition of becoming a creep.

He wants to be Jeff Flake when he grows up.
What a rearhole.

“From 1996 to 1998, Sasse was a tutor and proctor for the U.S. House of Representatives page program.”

“It is during his job in the House page program that Sasse’s meteoric political career met its first scandal. One of the members of the House Page Board while Sasse served as a tutor and proctor was Representative Jim Kolbe (R-AZ). Sasse had the responsibility to protect the underage teen House pages from among other threats, predatory members of Congress.”

“In 1996, while Sasse was a proctor and tutor for the pages, Kolbe, a member of the oversight House Page Board, took two 17-year old male pages on a three-day Independence Day camping trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Kolbe also said he was aware of ex-GOP Rep. Mark Foley’s (R-FL) e-mails to underage male pages as early as 2000. However, Foley’s indiscretions with the pages reportedly began as early as 1998, while Sasse was still a proctor/tutor. Foley later resigned after it was publicly revealed that he had made sexual advances toward male pages, including attempts to coax them from their dormitory on Capitol Hill.”

“It is easy to see how Sasse would favor deregulation of government oversight of foster care programs, orphanages, and other child services. Nebraska was ground zero for the infamous “Franklin Scandal,” the use of children for sexual prostitution by prominent Republicans in the state, including Franklin Credit Union president Lawrence King, a rising African-American star in the Republican Party. King was later convicted for embezzling funds from the minority-owned Franklin Credit Union, but thanks to pressure from the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations, there were never any prosecutions for child molestation and trafficking across state lines.”

He’ll be the 2020 version of Egg McMuffin. Bill Kristol and the other NeverTrumpers will bankroll Sassehole, only to see him do worse than that breakfast sandwich they put up in 2016!

Sounds like Sasse is applying for the vacant “Maverick of the Senate” position.

Yes. I was actually surprised watching the hearings that he seemed supportive of Judge K.

Didn't think he had it in him.

He really is a most elitist arrogant jerk. Pity his wife. One imagines him going home and finding a miniscule dustball somewhere she missed, and throwing a fit.

Trump thought this would be an easier appointment to get through--Imagine for a moment that he was correct... What more would they have done to a fervently and openly pro-life female Justice?

Watching the Left overreach more and more over the next decade or so will be fascinating... and also frightening. They can do no other... and our children and grandchildren will be the ones dealing with the aftermath.

Yeah I am very worried for the future of the country. the left have always been awful but they have stepped it up to near nazi and stalinist levels. and they are not going to ease off any time soon no matter what happens. the only person seriously trying to stop them is Trump. He literally has saved America IMO. Who will take his place when he's gone?

The last two Justices picked were Women, two LIBERAL Women.

What is this guy complaining about?

They want the SCOTUS to be a Penis Free Zone now?

Thankfully, the list of senators to primary out of existence is shortening from where we were several years ago. As Ace noted the other day, Flake has totally destroyed whatever credibility Never Trump cucks had left. Kavanaugh left their reputation in tatters. There is zero reason to retain them any longer.

So who is on the list now? McCain and Flake, gone... but we did a pathetic job against the parade of RINOs in the House this Primary cycle. Only 6 scalps claimed there, and Ryan was the only big name... and like McCain and Flake, that was also not a Primary victory.

We are even doing a terrible job in the Senate races in Big Trump states... TN, MO, IN, MT, ND, TX, WV... all massive Trump wins, and all have close Senate races.

Texas is the LEAST red of those states!!! (only +9 Trump)
TEXAS!!!!
