The rubber is about to meet the road for Senate Republicans. They have a simple choice: they can vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, thereby ending the baseless and unsubstantiated Democrat- and media-fueled smear campaign against him, or they can kiss House and Senate majorities goodbye for the next decade, if not longer.
[....]
A refusal to vote to confirm Kavanaugh in the face of a blatantly obvious Democrat smear campaign, orchestrated in concert with a compliant and obscenely partisan national media, will be strike three, and there will be no more at-bats. I have spent a career working in and covering politics, and I have never witnessed the kind of anger among rank-and-file GOP voters generated from a combination of the unsubstantiated Democrat attacks on Kavanaugh and the flaccid response of emasculated Republicans.
The stakes of the current battle over Kavanaugh are far bigger than a single Supreme Court seat, and Republican voters understand this, even if their elected lawmakers dont. Its bigger than Roe v. Wade, Obamacare, or Second Amendment rights. Democrats are trying to turn the rule of law on its head, to destroy the presumption of innocence not for themselves, mind you, but for anyone who dares to oppose their totalitarian political agenda.

Why show up if the Kavanaugh cannot be confirmed in a Rep-controlled Congress?
Where did this come from?
And there are no guarantees that the Reps will hold the Senate.
Why are you so upset about something that hasn't happened? Kavanaugh WILL be confirmed.
We have a majority? With Flake, Corker, and Murkowski lined up with the Dems, I don’t follow your math.
See I don’t quite get this. We all know the votes aren’t there due to the likes of Flake, Collins, Murkowski because repubs have less than 51 without them. So we’re going to sit home and pout so that repubs end up minority? WTF kind of game plan is that?
Let’s quit during half time because we’re 3 points down.
All hale Socialism.
Exactly. I heard a Democrat last night on the radio show Beyond the Beltway say that McConnell is trying to gin up support from the base to turn out in November by holding votes on Kavanaughs nomination hostage.
Well, only a Democrat _would_ think that by having Kavanaughs vote delayed or withdrawn by _Republicans_ would enrage the base enough to keep voting for Party R.
Its nuts!
Does it matter at this point?! Grassley screwed up royally but if he stands up to the rats and still doesn’t have the votes but takes the vote anyhow the base will go out in droves with anger to the voting booth seething towards the rats!! All I want to see is our team stand up and fight back no matter the outcome I wanna see some B.A.L.L.S!
Spot on. Everett Dirksen relished his minority status in the 50s and 60s and looked he has his name on the Senate office bldg. Dirksen is who all these guys want to be.
Yep, exactly what I TRIED to write to Senator Grassley but of course his server was down for maintenance (my arse) at that time!
I’m with you!
I understand the frustration. Certain Republicans need to be taken to the woodshed. But what happens if the Dem-Socialists have a decisive victory in the midterms? I think that would be a disaster that would cripple the Trump agenda. Do we really want to cut off our nose to spite our face?
Because of constitutionally enumerated procedures for electing senators, only one third of senators are up for reelection in any election.
So patriots will need to continue to primary RINOs and eliminate Democrats to drain the swamp by voting straight-ticket Republican at the ballot box for two more elections after this one, particularly where Senate is concerned.
But also consider that we wouldnt have to wait two more elections to completely drain the swamp if the states would appropriately amend the Constitution.
Insights welcome.
Unfortunately for them, Kavanaugh has calendars. The left has to work around those calendars. On those few days that Kavanaugh was free to commit perfidious deeds, the left has another problem — the actual whereabouts of the accusing women themselves. These women are going to have to provide dates, vagueness won’t work. While they may not have calendars, they did have doctor appts, vacations, music lessons, summer school, etc.; and so there are actual records that can be located that would put them elsewhere than in the vicinity of the supposedly hapless young Kavanaugh (who seems to me to be even then a very organized, very disciplined, very ambitious, very focused and scholarly young man who would some day end up being nominated for the Supreme Court, and not a reckless womanizing drunken party boy headed for trouble.) Besides, which, maybe the Judge has even more records than he has already revealed. Maybe the NYT was only given a taste of what the Judge actually has. Maybe Providence has prepared him for this day. It certainly seems so at this point. The left has a big problem despite having an endless supply of willing liars. Have a little hope, it is not displaced, not yet anyway.
Question:
Will noone in the ranks of elected officials stand up to these leftist scu&bags?
Just asking.
IMHO
He should be, but the WILL part will be determined by Flake, Collins, Corker, and Murkowski.
Corker and Flake will probably try to run for POTUS......as Democrats!!!! Like the former Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg is thinking of doiung.
A very good post and I agree absolutely.
As good and sincere a man as Kavanaugh undoubtedly is, this whole battle is about so much more than one man.
If the GOP cannot get a man of indisputable integrity, morality and competence through to the SC now, there will never again be a nominee who can pass without the Dummycrats having the first option of refusal.
I dont believe it is any exaggeration to say that the entire future of the Republic rests upon how things progress this week. If we lose this battle the Marxists first for blood will not be quenched by Kavanaughs scalp.
