Dallas police say one of their officers was going home after her shift when she walked into the wrong apartment and shot and killed the man inside.

The officer was in full uniform just after 10 p.m. Thursday evening when she walked into an apartment unit she believed to be her own at the 1200 block of South Lamar, about a quarter-mile from the Dallas Police Department.

Big time - my neighbor is SWAT and he says the last two classes for recruits have had more than a handful of tatted up kids with pants below the knees.

Or, he left his place unlocked and she noticed and was ready to engage when she entered.

Still doesn't make sense, even if the places are pre-furnished. Unless she was really high.

Reminds of the two female pilots who couldn’t get their plane to come up to speed or altitude. I forgot how far they flew before they figured out the landing gear was still down.

‘Also sorry but a police officer is not a job for a woman.’

come now, aren’t you aware that any 125 lb woman can toss two sizeable men across the room, using one arm, while with the other writing financial reports for her next staff meeting...?

Hollywood hath proclaimed it...

A result of hiring unqualified people.

Departments are finding it difficult now to attract good people due to the widespread ant-cop attitude in society.

Going into the wrong apartment is no excuse. Same as when police bust into the “wrong” house at 4 AM and shoot the old man in bed when he reaches for his glasses to see what the f*ck is going on.
Mistake is no excuse.
Being a cop gives no immunity.

How did she have the key to the wrong apartment?

Knowing a few federal LE guys, it seems as though competition for a slot is more fierce than ever for qualified people (ie squared away men in good shape with a few iotas of common sense) especially now with so many Iraq/Afghanistan vets who've earned veteran's hiring preference. But there will always be quota spots set aside for this or that group. I'm assuming this incident is the result of quota-filling, if not something more sinister.

How could you not realize you aren't in your own home? The slight wobble in the doorknob, the floormat, your sneakers not kicked to the side where you always leave them, different smell -- the million little things that you don't consciously notice, but that you'd instantly notice the absence of.

Just a cop doing what she is trained to do. Shoot anything that moves.

Better safe than sorry. Shoot first and ask questions later. There still could have been a danger to the officer if the resident was going for a gun. May have been self defense in that case.

What else would a boot licker come up with?

About 12 years ago, two African American women cops in the Bronx NY, beat the crap out of a male driver, while off duty. They were butch, weightlifters, probably taking steroids and went a rhoid rage. They dragged him out of a car, in traffic, and beat him up pretty good. I guess he got in there way and flipped them the bird.

“Standards have been lowered”

You have to be out of your mind to want to be a police recruit these days...and it shows. I can see the older ones hanging around fetal for pension purposes but not starting fresh. The politicians they have to work for are the scum of the earth.

Wow. Not only did a strange guy break into her apartment, but he completely changed all the furniture and wall hangings. He even had the gall to change the carpet and paint the walls.

I hope she got a blood test.

I’m thinking the same thing. There’s no pic, but I’m guessing this a 240 pound fat butch on steroids.

‘It happens every week on Law and Order and any one of the nonsensical NCIS shows.’

the proof of the pudding is the movie ‘Peppermint’; a petite Jennifer Garner dispatches MS-13 types with a flick of the finger, while uttering snarky comments like ‘do I have your attention yet...?’
