The National Rifle Association (NRA), the premier pro-gun lobby in the United States and arguably one of the countrys most powerful interest groups on any policy topic, says that efforts to fight it by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) could make it unable to exist as a not-for-profit or pursue its advocacy mission.
In the July 20 amended complaint, first reported by the New York Law Journals Dan M. Clark and embedded at the bottom of this article, the NRA accuses Cuomo, as well as New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) Superintendent Maria Vullo, of issuing a series of threats to financial institutions that DFS will exercise its extensive regulatory power against those entities that fail to sever ties with the NRA.
The threats amount to a series of warnings and regulatory actions by the New York state government targeting insurance companies and other financial entities doing business with the NRA, warning that working with the group would put financial businesses in legal jeopardy or damage their public reputation. While its in the NRAs interest to exaggerate the danger Cuomo and his allies actions pose to the group (so as to strengthen the lawsuits case), the complaint argues that Cuomos actions could wind up threatening the NRAs continued existence.
These threats, the complaint goes on to argue, endanger the financial viability of the organization by putting its access to financial services at risk. Cuomo could, the complaint states, imminently deprive the NRA of basic bank-depository services, corporate insurance coverage, and other financial services essential to the NRAs corporate existence and its advocacy mission.

....Similar organizations meaning any connected to conservatives....
Andrew and Chris are both boils on the two butt cheeks of America.
My dad joined early in the year and every several weeks gets a letter wanting him to join. What’s with that?
Nothing like starting out with a lie in the very first sentence. NRA lobbying power is dwarfed by unions, trial lawyers, and the Soros network to name just a few.
Andrew Cuomo:
“America was never that great.”
“No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer.”
“... (gun) confiscation could be an option.”
“... conservatives have no place in NY”
The more letters they mass-mail, the cheaper they are a piece?
Cueball revealing his hidden Mafioso.
Just like his dirtbag thug old man.
Dunno - gets a bit irritating after a while. Don’t they know their subscriber list?
There are probably two entries for him in their database.
He’s twins now! ;)
The NRA is aggressive in its fundraising efforts. If you join, expect to get hit up on the regular for requests for more money. They also raise money by selling your personal I formation to third parties, so your junk mail and telemarketing calls can also start getting clogged. If you join for a year, they'll up sell you for a life membership, if you get a life membership, they'll run a special on the next level of membership, which gets you a different color pin and maybe a better seat if you go to their convetion for the price of the upgrade and a flag on your account that shows you to be an easy mark. Their election-time propoganda also borders on hysterical. It's patronizing, seems to rely on people thinking the NRA is the only thing stopping jack booted thugs from breaking down doors and seizing hunting rifles immediately after democrats win any election. I don't think they are necessarily a bad organization, but I also don't think they have a whole lot of respect or regard for their membership.
Megalomaniac Cuomo needs a take the cannoli moment.
It is very easy to criticize their endless fundraising and marketing methods. Any complainers out there think we would be better off with a nice small & passive lobbying group instead? We’ve been “nice and quiet” for the last 50 years of the Leftist attack on us, turns out that didn’t work so well. Maybe it time for loud and obnoxious. Throw their weekly solicitation in the Recycle bin, or better yet, give it to non-member friends.
I have been a NRA life member for 11 years and hardly ever hear from them. Got it at vet’s half price, too.
Godfather Cuomo is trying to spread his war on the NRA to other states so it’s not an idle threat especially with the internet giants going blitzkrieg against gun rights.
Shouldn’t be taken lightly but some independent confirmation of the NRA’s finances would be helpful.
Well my dad now has two carry bags and a neat knife. I scammed him out of one bag for myself.
Or triplets??
I agree with most of what you said. The only reason I re up every year is because they are so hated by most of America’s enemies. They must be doing something right! Their Rifleman magazine is so full of the whiz bang plastic junk they sell as guns these days. I long for a nice walnut stock and deep bluing on a fine firearm.
I’m glad you said “boil” had terrible imagery in my mind!
The mafia long ago would have fitted this rat with a pair of US Gypsum work boots.
