California ... law aims to ban yet another thing liberals don't like

In the latest episode of “Banished!” by the People’s Republic of California, Governor Jerry Brown is likely to sign a bill that prohibits restaurants from offering anything other than milk or water with their kids’ meals, under the pretense of preventing obesity.

Effectively they’re telling parents they’re not capable of being trusted with their children’s health. It’s Big Brother Knows Best vs. mom and dad.

They want to control what little Johnny and Susie drink with their kids’ meal. If restaurants don’t play along they could be fined up to $500. So now California isn’t just the nanny state, it’s also the bully state.

Right, letting a kid have a little sugar is child abuse.

That’s not completely batsh** crazy at all.

we had lard, fried food etc,but the difference is that back then we all played out, we worked, we got exercise.
Today most kids cannot even run a 400 meter lap on a track, and trust me I have kids in the school, and we all see this.

During P.E at school today kids are not made to run so long as they keep moving walking etc. Back then we were made to play sports, run, do track etc.

I am almost 79, and I drink a 2 liter of regular coke in about 1 1/2 days. Quicker in hot weather, and N Nevada has had over 40 days above 100.

I do NOT drink coffee, so this is my caffine.

I always gave Mr Kohler credit for figuring out a LONG time ago how many gallons of water it took for a proper & complete flush of a toilet.

He spent long hours doing his R & D on this.

A number of elected officials in cities & counties are not nearly as smart as Mr Kohler.

Having said that, Californians have created their own problems.

We all learned ‘IF it is Brown, flush it down” & they kept re-electing that fool, Jerry Brown.

It will NEVER stop. The more power over your life and choices they have, the more they want.

I have thought about this too.

I think it comes down to two things.
1. People work in more sedentary jobs
2. People eat more calories.

Yep good questions. What about gay kids? What about the 50+ gender identities there are nowadays?

It has to be coffee for me, but sometimes I do wax exceedingly nostalgic for, say, a Dr. Pepper float.

Leave no right of personal choice unabated in the Peoples Republic of Mexifornia.

While I don’t believe in the nanny state, I think its best to feed kids healthy foods, not junk. Parents shouldn’t need the govt to tell them that milk is better than soda for kids, but they also shouldn’t need to be reminded that playing in the back yard is better for them than the Xbox. Getting off their butts and doing something active will solve the obesity problem.

I dream of a day when all leftists are pushed out the country. I don’t care where they go; just that they go. They don’t belong here. This is NOT their home. They forfeited that right long ago when they decided they wanted to be the control freaks to control the normal people.

I was in elementary school in the late 60s and early 70s. There were very few overweight kids in class. Maybe one per classroom.

Just change the names of “kids meals” to “Junior Meals” available to all, and you are done.

And they were likely known as ‘Fatty’. Today, overweight is the norm, not the exception. I taught (and now sub) at a rural school. Lots of the kids still doing farm chores. They aren’t fat. Also, when I was a lad, soda was not usually in the house. Soda was a treat, although some kids did consume a lot of Kool Ade.
