A study that shows a huge jump in children who identify as transgender can be traced to a culture pushing the idea.
"Children are steeped in this culture, at least through the developed western world," observes Dr. Micelle Cretella, "that is basically marketing this transgender identity to them."
A study performed earlier this year shows nearly three percent of 13-to 17-year-olds identify as transgender as compared to less than one percent just a year ago.
The study, published by American Academy of Pediatrics, looked at approximately 81,000 ninth and 11th grade students in Minnesota.
Experts say those results can be extrapolated across the nation.

Many sanctimonious FReepers hate the BSA and totally overlook the fact that there are many fantastic Americans that owe a lot to having been a scout. Stephen Bechtel is one such person.

I agree entirely. There are always girls who envision themselves more comfortable playing sports than playing with dolls, and boys who would rather play the piano than play football. So what? It's a horrible thing to encourage these children to think of themselves as ‘transgender’ when they are just normal kids who aren't smack in the middle of the bell-shaped curve. I went to school with a guy who was into culture etc., and not into sports. He's definitely heterosexual, and married an incredibly beautiful ballerina. These people should just give it a rest.

My wife was a tomboy. As a child, one day she was playing with one of the boy’s in the neighborhood and they went to his house. He asked his mother if she could spend the night. His mother said it’s not propper for girls to spend the night with boys. His response: “Mo’s a girl?!”
Her name is Maureen but everyone called her Mo.
And trust me. She is about the most feminine and female human being I’ve ever met in my adult life. ;)
Last time I saw mention of a transgender was on Forensic Files when this guy raped and killed a teen and a preteen and blamed both the murders on his other self who was a woman.
Absolute degeneracy. The idea is, after we establish a 5 year old can choose their “sexual identity”, then a 5 year old can decide to be sodomized.

Well, there were always tomboys and sissies, but like others have said, most of them grew out of it. Now they are encouraged to call themselves “transgender”, start taking hormones, and probably mess their heads up permanently.
