A 92-year-old woman shot her son to death over his plan to move her into an Arizona retirement home, authorities said Tuesday.

The elderly mother faced off with her 72-year-old son at his Fountain Hills home, pulled a pistol from her bathrobe and blasted him around 10 a.m. Monday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Anna Mae Blessing told cops she had been stewing for days over her son's decision to kick her out and "believed he ruined" her life.

“You ended my life, so I’m taking yours,” Blessing allegedly said during her arrest

This can be a touchy time. If my mom offs me I guess I’m ok with it.

Dementia, hopefully. In the sense of, I hope she wasn’t always this difficult.

I think he should have put her in there about 20 years ago. She probably had Alzheimer’s, and often there’s an anger and paranoia problem that goes with that. Not always, but frequently enough.

Prayers for the family because it must be horrible for them.

Or he could have taken care of his mother himself.

How long had he lived off his mother if so, or was it vice versa? I ask as my wife’s mom is only 84 and the son 61. He has lived and bummed off momma since 1975 or so. Yes, she is SCARED TO HELL OF HIM. The punk served 3 years in the Corps as a Viet ERA type. He wrecked his Harley coming home. He does zip for the mom. My wife refuses to tell the state about Elder Abuse.

“Or he could have taken care of his mother himself.”

Really easy to SAY...unless you have an elderly parent with dementia that you are taking care of 24/7!

Could be.

Could also be a drug she is on or a drug interaction.

Geriatric medicine is very complicated and individually complicated.

With geriatric patients a drug they have been on for years could suddenly cause a psychotic break or a new drug could interact with a drug they are already on to cause a psychotic break.

Geriatric patients usual have a number of doctors. I is always a good idea that they have one doctor that oversees their care that is keeping track of all of the drugs they are on to ensure that possible unpleasant drug interactions are avoided.

This is not to excuse murder. But perhaps the son isn’t exactly blameless. In another source, I read that he wanted to put his mother in a nursing home to get rid of her and get her home and have his girlfriend move in. But with so much fake news, I don’t know what to believe.

Unless of courseshe is tried by a jury of her peers.

If I were on the jury and evidence either backs her assertion of her version of his intent, or if the prosecution presents no thorough investigation at all then I assume the son was just another leeching bum and it was self defense.

Maybe don’t have your parents locked away when they get old.

We kept telling my mom to make the decision before we would have to make it for her (on behalf of my dad initially). She wouldn’t. She kept putting him in downright dangerous situations for him & anyone on the road. We finally made it for them. He was happy in assisted living, she was miserable. However, inside of 3 years they both passed, 9 months apart. First my dad, Then I believe because she was so unhappy, my mom.
