Marcela Rivera told Eyewitness News she lives in constant fear.
She's an undocumented mother of five American children whose husband, Carlos Gudiel, was just deported back to Guatemala on Wednesday.
Eyewitness News obtained video of him in his home country as he was tearfully reunited with his mother.
"My husband is not a criminal," Rivera said, in Spanish.
Rivera said her husband did cross the border illegally twice but he doesn't have a criminal background. It may be hard for people to understand her situation, she said, but all they ever wanted was a better life.
The Harris County GOP chair said the immigration system needs to be fixed regardless.
"We need to enforce the law," GOP chairman Paul Simpson said. "He's a grown man who made this decision after he'd been deported once before to violate the law again and then father five children, so I hope his family does get reunited with his family back in his home country."

She could always following him, take the whole family and good riddance.
A lot of Americans are struggling to stay afloat, so?
Why did she abandon her husband? Wouldn’t it be better to move her children where they can be close to their father? Is there no love in this family? And besides, the cost of living in Guatemala is so much lower. I mean, it’s not a chithole, is it?
No worries....he’ll be back in a minute.
She’s an undocumented mother of five American children
Those ‘American children’ get her free goodies all day long.
Yes, he is a criminal and so is she. If they’d illegally crossed into Mexico they’d be in jail.
“My husband is not a criminal,” Rivera said, in Spanish.”
Unbelievable.
well he is now with his mother, and now she can go too instead of waiting to be sent back. WTH is she going public for if she lives in fear? What utter crap she spouts.
Female fear and lamentations....... now that’s winning
she lives in constant fear. She’s an undocumented

She is an illegal alien.
A citizen of another country that broke into our country.
Illegal aliens SHOULD live in fear, all criminals should.
Send her home and she can take her kids with her.
We really do have to change the misinterpretation of the 14th that gives illegal alien’s children US citizenship.
Very selfish of the woman to elect to split her family and likely live on welfare. She also elected to marry a crook and is also a crook. She should do the right thing and move to her husband’s country (and probably hers) to keep her family together, where it belongs, there.
Why not follow your husband? Isn’t it good to have the father with the family too?
This illegal alien couple managed to squirt out 5 anchor babies while in our country, but haven’t managed to learn English. Who employed him? Why isn’t his boss being punished for aiding and abetting an illegal? We really should reunite this family. Send the wife and children to Guatemala next week.
It goes to show how they think they should disrespect our laws, the country, and take off us all.
Illegal Hispanic privilege is far greater than the so called crap called white privilege.
The immigration laws need to be updated to make it illegal to be stupid. A statement like that would be grounds for deportation for reason of sheer stupidity.
He’s illegal, she’s illegal and they have American children. Therein lies the problem. We’ve got to fix that wacky Fourteenth Amendment. It’s “old, obsolete and outdated”. It has got our “living and breathing Constitution” on life support.
How can she live in fear when she is out there in the public eye?
I hate to keep pointing this out, but “but all they ever wanted was a better life” just means they came here for the cash and benefits provided by Americans.
They would have been happy to stay where they were if they had had a little more money.
This leads to the way to encourage self-deportation. I don’t particularly like civil asset forfeiture, but everything the people in the article have is because they broke the law and continue breaking the law. Threaten to seize everything, right down to their underwear, and see how fast they can repatriate themselves and their possessions.
