Oregon Gov. won't send National Guard troops to border

Oregon's governor says that if President Donald Trump asks to dispatch members of her state's National Guard to the US southern border, she'll "say no."

In a set of tweets Wednesday, Democratic Gov. Kate Brown said she was "deeply troubled" by Trump's plan to send members of the US military to the border and implied that the President is doing so as a political distraction.

"If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I'll say no. As Commander of Oregon's Guard, I'm deeply troubled by Trump's plan to militarize our border," the tweet said.

Brown also said that although she has not been contacted by the Trump administration or others regarding Oregon's National Guard troops, she has "no intention of allowing Oregon's guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington."

Oregon’s border like Washington State’s border was over run by Californians decades ago.

There’s nothing left to protect and little difference between the nuttery of the 3 states. Think of them as inbred.

It's the border between Cauliflower & Oregano.

(Actually, based on their prior voting patterns, a sizeable segment of Oregonians are obviously on the border of insanity, and some would say that a large segment of them are already well across that border.)

Trump can Federalize the National Guard and there’s not a damn thing she can do about it. It is NOT her call in any way.

What a twit. The chances of Trump asking the Oregon NG go to our southern borders is about as likely as winning the powerball.

Visiting Portland 16 years ago I was unimpressed by the many citizens who seemed to be high on drugs and weak in dress. More tie-dyed t-shirts with pony tailed, spaced out, folks looking for their next fix (a-holes) then I could count. Not worth worrying about what they could become, they are arrived. No more visits to the putrid Northwest.

two things can happen here.

First: Under the U.S. Constitution, each state’s National Guard unit is controlled by the governor in time of peace but can be called up for federal duty by the president.

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 forbids U.S. troops from being deployed on American soil for law enforcement. The one exception is provided by the Insurrection Act of 1807, which lets the president use the military only for the purpose of putting down rebellions or enforcing constitutional rights if state authorities fail to do so.
The president will be calling them for the protection of a border from an invading force coming through Mexico from Central America threatening our sovereignty.

Two: Oregon is number 12 of states in the US for receiving federal aid meaning there are only 11 other states that receive more. Maybe they should be reminded they shouldn’t deficate where they eat.
